Paulinho

Re: Official - Paulinho

I thought he was saving himself for the World Cup but it turns out he wasn't. Really should be dropped at this stage.

Re: Official - Paulinho

Genuinely offended that my season ticket money goes towards paying this mugs ridiculous wages.

Re: Official - Paulinho

There is a big hole in that Brazilian midfield and I'm not surprised they look so disjointed. For scolari to start with Ramirez, Paulinho and Gustavo was just laughable, oh and Oscar out wide. WTF!.........

Re: Official - Paulinho

Seriously on what basis did we scout this guy and decide he would be worth buying? Absolutely awful player would genuinely rather have Jenas ghaly or Zokora playing instead of him.

Not sure about those three, but I'd definitely take Kev the Ponce over him.

Re: Official - Paulinho

Mexico deserve credit, but he did seem to take the majority of the second half at a canter. One thing I will say though, is that Brazil looked much better in the Confederations with Oscar in the #10 role and Neymar out wide. For all his dribbling ability, Neymar does not have the vision that Oscar does and I think they won't look better until they adjust.

Paulinho isn't going to be the player that drives Brazil forward, but I think he needs people like Oscar around him so that he can pick his forward runs.

Re: Official - Paulinho

Further World Cup chat can go in its proper thread. This will go on hiatus.

Official MKII- Paulinho

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...m-Hotspur-and-Brazil-midfielder-Paulinho.html

Juventus are making a £20 million bid to sign the Brazilian midfielder Paulinho from Tottenham Hotspur. The move is expected to pave the way for Arturo Vidal to leave the Italian champions although Manchester United, who have strongly been linked with the 27-year-old, deny they are close to agreeing a deal for the Chilean international.

According to sources in Italy, however, Paulinho is already being lined up as Vidal's replacement with Juventus confident that an offer for the Brazilian international will be accepted by Spurs.

The likelihood is, however, that Spurs's chairman Daniel Levy will want to receive more than £25 million before he will even consider selling Paulinho.

The midfielder has previously insisted he is happy at Spurs but a move to Juventus, who are competing to win their fourth successive Italian league title next season and hope to challenge for the Champions League, could be an attractive option.

Paulinho arrived at White Hart Lane last summer in what proved to be a difficult campaign for Spurs and the midfielder who lost his place under head coach Tim Sherwood after Andre Villas-Boas, who signed him in what was regarded as a transfer coup, was sacked last December.
Sherwood questioned whether Paulinho, who turns 26 later this month, was living off his reputation although the player was hampered by injury.
Sherwood was himself sacked at the end of the season to make way for Mauricio Pochettino who now has a battle on his hands if he wants to keep Paulinho, who can play as a box-to-box goalscoring midfielder, scoring seven goals last season, or in a deeper role, at the club.
Juve coach Antonio Conte is an admirer of Paulinho who started Saturday's third and fourth place play-off between Brazil and Holland at the World Cup. He was a key member of Luiz Felipe Scolari's squad.
Spurs paid around £17 million to sign Paulinho from the Sao Paulo club Corinthians and he attracted interest from Real Madrid during last season and, more recently, Chelsea who are still looking to strengthen their midfield. An informal inquiry was made about Paulinho.
Chelsea are also interested in Vidal's Juventus team-mate Paul Pogba but, like United, may well be unwilling to pay the £60 million fee being demanded for the French international. Chelsea have also considered a move for Atletico Madrid's Spanish international Koke following the departure of Frank Lampard.
United have been strongly linked with a move for Vidal to form a new central midfield partnership with Ander Herrera who they signed for £29 million from Athletic Bilbao.
Juventus will want in excess of £30 million for Vidal although United continue to deny they are on the verge of completing a deal. Nevertheless he is expected to be allowed to leave Juve this summer if the club can sign Paulinho.

25m please :p

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho

I think he's just knackered. He's played 3 seasons now back-to-back with no break.

I do think there's a good player in there when he's rested and confident (we all saw that at the Confeds Cup).

I like to see him given 12 months with Poch and then decide next summer.

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho

He needs a manager who believes in him and will know how to get the best out of him.

If Poch can make Cork look semi-decent, I'm sure he could do something with Paulinho.

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho

Not worth the risk.. wait 12 months and he could be a 40m midfielder.. or he could be 8m.. Levy should take the 25m and let Poch buy.

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho

IMO Pochettino is aiming to turn Paulinho into a Lampard with his energy and intelligent runs in the box.
Id be interested to see him given a proper run/role in our team.
Also tempted to take 25 quid tho

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho

OK, my second post, and I'll say what I think. I've seen some posts on here that say Paulinho was good , but has got worse. I'm in the U.S., so only watch on the telly, but I just can't understand how anybody ever thought he was any good anyway. Even before he "lost form", all he did was show up sometimes in good positions, but didn't convert the opportunities. If we can sell him for big bucks, go for it. Then go stroke Sandro to get him back to what he was, put him in a room with Eriksen and work out devious ways to link defense to attack, and we're off.

You should go back and watch him in the confederations cup games last summer - especially the one where he was up against Xavi and Iniesta
