YOUR England 23 man World cup squad

-------------------Hart--------------------
Johnson---Jagielka---Cahill------Baines
-----------------Gerrard------------------
---------Barkley---------Lallana---------
Sterling--------------------------Rooney
-----------------Sturridge-----------------

Purely thinking about the heat England will be playing in in Brazil I'd probably put the likes of andy carroll or crouch in my squad. Hoof the ball up the field for 90 mins and try and sneak a 1-0. Start playing properly if/when we make it to knock out rounds.

Would be boring though.

not necessairly what i would take. but this is what i think hodgson will go with.

hart,fraser forster, ben foster

baines, shaw, johnson, smalling, jagielka, jones, cahill

henderson, lallana, milner, Wheelchair, oxlade-chamberlain, sterling, gerrard, lampard, barkley

rooney, sturridge, welbeck, lambert

I got it spot on :)

You could just see us giving the ball away like that and running ourselves into the ground trying to get it back though.. That's usually how England play and hasn't worked for a long time lol

isn't it amazing how carrick has gone from man utd player of the year last season to not even being the 23 for the worldcup. i would've had him in for sure

I know he's not in that top class level but he should definitely have more than his 30 odd caps.

we've gone from the likes of terry, ferdinand, king, woodgate, campbell over the past decade to jagielka, cahill, jones and smalling haha

i can just see the likes of gerrard attempting a 50 yard diagonal/"pass" (euphemism for long ball) every 5 minutes (again). lampard and henderson aren't great at retaining the ball either. so theres just Wheelchair and possibly lallana. for me, carrick would've been perfect, especially when you consider the conditions.

Surely there is no need to disgrace our country by taking Jordan Henderson? Sure he has been useful for Liverpool this year, but really he is just a sh!t, less versatile James Milner.

its amazing isnt it. liverpool have done so well considering how many bad players they have. it wouldnt surprise me if england start with henderson. if he was brazilian, he wouldnt be anywhere near the sqaud. guys like paulinho are so much better than him. its just a shame paulinho didnt click this season for us.

yeah the current crop of English CBs is relatively average, I have to say. Curious, as traditionally it's probably one of the strongest areas for England down the years.

No surprises with that squad, but then neither did I think there would be - this is Roy. An average squad overall - IMO the best to hope for is scraping out of the group and maybe fluking our way past one decent side (unlikely though - as historically we nearly always get knocked out by the first decent team we meet).

Will find it hard to root for England with no Spurs players present. In fact I will probably laugh if we fail. Sad that I feel like this about our national team.

At least there aren't scoundrels like Terry in this time, and I do quite like the likes of Barkley and Lallana right now. We'll see.

Henderson has been superb this season, he has improved a lot.....in fact, look what happened to Liverpool after he was sent off against City and suspended for the final 3 games.....lost to Chelsea, drew to Palace and just sneaked a win against Saudi Sportswashing Machine

When did we not even have one player in the England squad? Is that an indictment on us or the current England set-up?

Also, I do find it a little bit odd that he hasn't taken Cole due to wanting to go with Shaw (youth), yet he takes Lampard? Perhaps it's a lack of alternatives in his position :-k
