OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

What makes them 'not CMs'? In your opinion?

Can you see that Naughton isn't a winger? Can you see that Dawson isn't a #10? Can you see that Soldado isn't a full back?

Sigurdsson and Chadli aren't CMs in the same way those players above aren't suitable to the positions listed. Paulinho is borderline and really needs two other CMs next to/behind him doing the bulk of the work to free him to make use of his "qualities" which is getting forward and joining the attacks.

Sandro. All we need.

i think we're going with something like this:

......................Lloris.....................

.....................Chiriches
.Lennon
Naughton....Dawson

................Sandro
.....Eriksen
..................................................................Adebayor
.......................................................Rose

........................Soldado
....

..................................................................Row Q........Sherwood......................Gilet

Either of who? Paulinho? Sigi, Chadli?

Chadli for me could be a very good CM. Big strong but able to dribble and attack. Sigi has played in the middle at various times. I don't think he's good enough anywhere regardless of CM or otherwise.

Instead of argue over whether a player can play in CM, what would you have done/ played?

All of them?

Chadli has never played as a CM before as far as I'm aware. He's always been a winger, or someone who has played more in the attacking midfield positions.

Similarly to Siggy, who has played in the middle but at the tip of a 3 for example for much of his time in England. Paulinho plays in a midfield 5 for Brazil and again often as the most advanced cm for Corinthians.

If we were going to play with 2 strikers? I would have gone with 2 actual central midfielders. Any combination of Sandro, Bentaleb, Dembele and Paulinho if injuries to the other 3 necessitated it. Sandro and Dembele if I could have, Sandro and Bentaleb if not.

Credit to sherwood for going with two strikers, we'll need discipline from our strikers though

Are you having a laugh?? We can't get out of our own half and now we have two strikers to do nothing. Ade can't be arsed. And Soldado is ****.

Many thought Bale was a fullback. Rather than obsess over whether a player can play CM, who would you have played in what formation?

Soldado....great movement, **** finish. Story of his season, unfortunately. Great pass from Eriksen there.

I don't think he is doing Soldado or Sandro any favors.
He could ve kept Kane on in the beginning , but seems to have changed his mind.

Sometimes you get freak players who will lok good anywhere, Bale's game evolved so it made sense to move him into a position where he could do more damage, the only team Sigurdsson/Chadli/Paulinho in a 442 CM are doing damage to is us. I would have started Sandro and Bentaleb for sure, perhaps Paulinho as a 3rd CM freed up to support whoever up front. Eriksen and Sigurdsson wide, not that I'd love to see Sigurdsson wide but Lennon shouldn't be starting.

To be fair I think any manager would've subbed a striker for a defender at 0-0 when Kaboul was sent off.

The only 'realistic' worry is if City don't win the league and Pellegrini has enough of Hart. The outside bet is if Madrid think he will be an upgrade on Lopez (which he would be).

Lopez is an excellent keeper and doubt they would replace him seeing as he had replaced already one of the best in Casillas.

Its going to be an interesting summer but one that will be drawn out in terms of transfers due to the World Cup.

So in short you'd have played Sandro and Bentaleb. I think that would have been an improvement on Sigi and we might have done better. But I don't think it would have made the massive, obvious difference that many on here seem to be obsessing about. I would have liked to have seen it though.

you deny the value in playing players in their natural positions.

we probably wouldn't have scored any less or more in this game, but you don't start brad friedel on the right wing, lennon at centre back and dawson at left back - do you?

The sub was made at 1-0 though.

It was about two minutes between the sending off and the goal. ****in hell dude like seriously. Im hoping youre not this bad etc that you cannot think coherently and make silly comments. Sorry to be abrupt but its just silly. Unfathomable
