Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Problem is, the moment we come across any side remotely close to us in terms of ability, we currently choke.

We've done well against teams that are moderately close to us but we have been a shambles all season against anyone above us.

I agree that the shape of the team is not great at the moment but I think that some of that can be put down to square pegs in round holes.

Precisely. We have had some great results against those around us ( beat Everton, beat Man U at OT , beat Soton home and away, beat Stoke home and away, beat Saudi Sportswashing Machine away by four). The problems are that our deficiencies have been shown up by the better teams. Left back has been a problem position, our injuries to the back four have not allowed any form of a settled defense often leading to calamitous errors early on for which were mercilessly punished by the top four sides. No real mystery and not all down to TS either.

Tim hasn't exactly helped in hiding/protecting those deficiences though has he? Look at Chelsea yesterday, perfect game plan, would Tim ever do that? He'd more than likely go with the current ****witted lineup because it worked at home to Fulham.

Exactly. Plus he's the most cowardly manager we've had perhaps in the PL era (see his Anfield antics and quotes)

Yep, he seems to very much be from the Harry Redknapp school of taking all the credit when it's going well but distancing himself from any blame when it's not. When he gets the gig it's "oh we don't need any new signings, these are top players, we just need to get them fit and settled" then a couple of bad results come and it's all "we can't compete technically with Liverpool" and "our squad is much of a muchness".

Agree. Better organization and we could've been ahead of the goons this season despite it all. Playing Sandro more would've been a start IMO.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

In what sense?

I'm guessing he means in the sense of him taking no responsibility for anything that goes wrong. I wasn't a big fan of AVB but he never looked to blame others, he generally came across as pretty humble most of the time.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

In what sense?

"I sat in the stands because I didn't think that I could do anything as Liverpool were always going to be technically superior to us..."

...this after HE HIMSELF blasting the players for not showing "guts, heart, passion etc"

Both cowardly AND hypocritical. Has any of our previous managers come out with that kind of **** AND gotten away with it (relatively)???

He also came up with some of the most ridiculous statements to the media and also rarely took responsibility due to being so defensive when questioned about things.

I really like Sherwood saying our squad is much of a much because it's damn true. We all know it (hence we still don't know our first X1 and preferred formation) so i was pleased he put it out there so the overrated players that continuously got their arses handed to them knew where management stood. I don't care if it hurt their feelings....they hurt my feelings getting lubed up continuously this season and performing like ****.

Yeh he's a **** it's common knowledge. I thought you was referring to his team selection which is why i asked.

Blasting the players for not showing guts and heart? kudos to him.

He gets NO kudos when he himself shows lack of guts and heart. A big fat hypocrite; where was HIS guts and heart??

Oh yeah, the same guy who in January, when everything was all sweet said "nah we don't need no signings we have a great squad".

As usual, just creating another excuse to deflect blame from his own shortcomings

Ok well you may like it but for me he's just came across as an unprofessional idiot swinging his **** around. I may not think Aaron Lennon's good enough but I wouldn't want Sherwood saying that live after a game like he did with Sandro. He's gone soon so I don't care a great deal, he could've been in with a chance of the job had he not proven to be such a liability in the press, alienate some of the playing squad and pick such ridiculous lineups. Enjoy Norwich or Swindon or wherever you end up Tim.

He didn't say that in terms of quality of the squad though. He said it because we already had 7 new players who were still finding their feet and it would be counter productive signing more players. It's not like he assesed the squad and decided everyone was good then suddenly decided they were all **** and new players were needed months later.

Oh yeah?

"I am happy with the squad we have here. It is a big squad after we brought seven new players in last summer, and I trust this group of players to take us where we want to be. "But it is possible that there may be players leaving, although if no one was to go then I would be delighted."

So the answer to our problems in January...was to sign more players? Good fukking grief.

And before you say anything about a LB, please name a player we could have signed who was affordable, would have come and would have been a long-term singing and not just a panic buy. Also please show a scintilla of evidence (or logic) that Levy would have made the money available, and then please explain why Levy, Baldini and AVB failed to bring in a LB in the summer and why it is Sherwood's fault 1 week after taking his new job that we don't have one.

Finally, you actually believe what Sherwood said here?? You think he DIDN'T want a new left back? DL: "Here, Tim, you want me to spunk £20m on a new LB?". TS: "Oh no, no, no! I'm happy with 1 kid at the club for that spot and ZERO cover, thanks very much". You think that's the way it went down? Are you really that naive?

And oh my GHod the irony that you don't believe a word out of Sherwood's mouth until it suddenly suits you to assume he's speaking gospel.

Missing the point entirely.

He went from "I'm happy with the squad we've got here" and "I trust this group of players to take us where we want to be", when things are going well...to....

...."this squad is much of a muchness" when things aren't going well. Not-me-guv..

What's the common chant aimed at Liverpool/Liverpool fans again? "Always some else, it's never your fault"...quite apt here I think
