Thank you AVB

But still, in the end, the death of another dream, the end of another prodigy, the return to another drawing board....is nothing to be happy about.
I think that says it for a lot of us. Very sad that a relationship which promised a lot has failed. I suspect that AVB bought into the dream, and thought that Levy would get him the players like Hulk and Villa who he thought would deliver it....mistake.
What I don't understand is why we didn't get an Adebayor replacement if AVB had decided that the guy as poison and there was no way he would use Adebayor again.....

I imagine Adebayor is very happy on his £170,000/ week paycheck and doesn't want to sabotage that by moving, where he is unlikely to ever find anything as cushy ever again. Until he was moved on, we couldn't really bring in his replacement.

This genuinely makes me sad. I'm not sure I've wanted one of our managers to succeed as much for a long long time. :(

Breath of fresh air after redknapp in the way he acted and spoke in the media.

I think he had to go after Sunday as he was completely broken, in no way is this all his fault, the players application at times this year has been a disgrace and they need to look at themselves in the mirror.

Levy has to take some of the blame as well, AVB wanted MOuntinho and for the sake of 500k we didn't get him.

now when the dust has settled I am quite baffled with this situation. I was mad after the Liverpool game, it was the worst I have seen, along with the 7-1 beating we took at Saudi Sportswashing Machine some years ago.

But are we better set for this season letting him go like that? We are now stuck with Deadwood trying to take us to the semi finals in the league cup. Do the players listen to him?

In the end, why did AVB not have time until january at least? The results between City and Liverpool were good. Although the whole team was **** against Liverpool he was stuck with one of the worst LB in the league, one of the most overrated CB in the world (Dawson) and a midfielder playing a CB.

I just dont know about this. I was all for this yesterday but today this seems like a huge step backwards

The sad part is that we will never know what could have been had we allowed him more time. I think it was unwise to not give him a full season with the seven new signings, before assessing him. I'm confident it wouldn't have made a difference in terms of what we will achieve this season.

Anyways, thats for another thread. So AVB; thanks for the enthusiasm, the memories, the time and effort spent for Spurs, and for being the most successful Tottenham manager in the modern era - result wise. Good luck wherever you end up.

Thanks AVB. He was my number one choice to replace 'Arry, was delighted when we got him, clearly an intelligent, nice, well-spoken guy who has undoubtedly done his best for Spurs over the past 18 months. While we've had some bad performances recently, away from home we are the sh*t, we posted a record points total last year, he leaves us with a winning percentage of 55, and he's given us results such as 3-2 away at OT and beating the scum at WHL which will live long in the memory.

I like others echo the sadness that comes with him being sacked, as he is a proper manager with a philosophy, and I think those are rare creatues these days. It was great that we managed to get someone with the potential to either create or start a dynasty. I'll always believe that he could have been a proper success if he was given the proper time and support.

Good luck Andre.

really? doesnt take much then

Obviously he's achieved nothing to be called a hero, he's not a hero for this club in the same way Ledley King is, or Bill Nick is, or Martin Jol during the good years.

But **** it, he's a hero in my eyes because of what he could have achieved. I wanted him to succeed badly. It's not rational but I thought he had the potential to make us great.

First man who dusted of all the cynicism and give me real belief that Tottenham could be great again (since my childhood naivety was shattered in summer 1991). I've not had such passion for the club in more than 20 years - I genuinely felt the clouds were finally breaking and blue skies (and silverware) were ahead. Now we are right back in the mid-winter storm.
