***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham

Have to say I'm surprised at just how good Lennon has been. He really is way ahead of Andros at the moment - perculiar that he is nowhere near England while Andros is.

He's not just one of the most underrated players at the club, he is one of the most underrated players in the league. It is no accident that we normally always play better when he is in the team.

For someone so passionless, indifferent and emotionless towards Spurs, you sure do spend a lot of time here talking about them.

This board makes Tottenham all the more enjoyable to support.

For such a passionate Spurs fan, you sure do complain, moan and throw negativity their way.

Really happy with our performance.

Can you REALY say you are happy with our peformance ? Take away the 2 wonder strikes and can you seriously say that was a good peformance ? What on earth were you watching.

Agreed. People saying we failed to create chances simply didn't watch the game, or are in denial because they really want to be negative. We did. Saying otherwise is a lie.

I think some people have made their minds up they don't like AVB and what he's doing, regardless of what happens.

Agreed.

He's one of the few players at our club with great close control, the ability to turn on the spot, his first touch is one of the best in the league. He has a good footballing brain, he won't just run into a blind alley because he has pace, he always looks to find someone with a pass.

Thought I would watch the whole game before posting. My conclusion is that it was, yet again, absolute drivel ! We have not improved one single iota since day one of the season. Anyone who thinks them 2 strikes will make up for another 90 more minutes of ****e, must be on another planet. Of course AVB wont be sacked until the season is dead and buried, and then of course, its too late.

By the way Shaney old boy, seeing as you can predict the future with such stunning aplomb, could you PM me the winner of the 2014 Grand national and next week's winning lottery numbers?

Cheers luv!

tbh BOL stuck with his opinion throughout but have a look at your posts in this thread when we're 0-1...i'm sorry but they don't sound like they're from someone that liked what he was watching.

I know Walker gets alot of **** but i think he's been one of our best players this season

He did. That bit of battling he did at the end near the corner flag (just before Paulinho thought he had scored), was top notch. Love seeing grit like that

Ive been really impressed with his attitude over the last year or so - doesn't always play great but is forever driving his team mates on. Don't know if it comes across on tv

Having a bit of competition seems to spur (;)) him on. When we bought Bentley he raised his game and I think we are seeing a similar reaction now to the increased competition. For a period Lennon was getting more praise for his defensive work than his attacking but he seems to have found his mojo again.

BoL you make a good case for football played in such a theoretical way. Most people on here ( not the most objective audience I know, but the only one I can rely on as I dint see the game myself,) thought we got out of jail with two wonder goals after an abject performance, not part of some grand pre prepared plan.

On your wider point, if this is indeed AVB's masterplan for the rest of the season and beyond, I have to say that it is not one that I for one relish. Suffocating the opposition is not how I want to watch football. Sorry.

Fair dos to you my man, this style isn't for everyone. To be honest there were times last season where as much as I backed AVB, I struggled to get through some of the games. But it hadn't all clicked with me as to why we are doing what we are doing, and I didn't see the benefits of it. I thought the reason we looked like we could play football away from home is because we had good counter attacking players and after a few months we would look like Barca at home once he got his ideas across.

Now I realise he actually got his ideas across almost immediately, but that the players weren't very comfortable with them in the first few games. Even this season I sat at WHL watching Tromso, and it was a dull match. No doubt about it. We scored some nice goals and looked good in spells but it was dull. After reading into it further and weighing everything up though, it makes sense why we are doing what we are doing and I back it because I want to see us be successful, and I simply don't think we will trying to go out there and playing the 'Spurs Way' for 90 minutes. Not if we are trying to overachieve and break through a glass ceiling. We need to do something else, otherwise the Spurs Way will hold us back. That's not to say we won't play good football in the games that matter - just that sometimes in the supposed easier games we are going to be slowing it right down but it's for the greater good.

As for tonight - we scored 2 long shots but we created good chances inside the box that could have meant we didn't need them. Chance creation wasn't a problem tonight. I don't think the tactics were, I think it was sloppy passing and individual errors creeping in, against a team that decided they wanted to make a statement tonight.

I think some people have made their minds up they don't like AVB and what he's doing, regardless of what happens.

And by the same token, some people have made their minds up that AVB can do no wrong, regardless of what happens.

(not taking the mickey, just balancing up the argument as it cuts both ways).

Agree with both of you guys. It is no suprise to me to see Azza back and playing very well. Also a pleasing middle finger to our some of 'fans' who were ****ging this guy off to no end not that long ago. This has happened before and every time Aaron Lennon comes back and proves them wrong.

Hopefully he can stay injury-free and go on to be a big factor in our season improving.

I agree - Lennon is my fave player and part of the furniture.

This has a feeling of deja vu. When Lennon has one or two bad games youll get people go he is overrated and when performing well he is underrated. He is seriously underrated and the guy is the only truly exciting player we have left in our team - only guy that gets me off my seat.

Very surprised by how positive some of you are on here, Jesus. We won and Holtby scored a great goal, those are certainly positives!

But come on, before Vlad's 35 yarder, we were f**king terrible. Shots from range got us out of jail again, and it was the same story for last season wasn't it?

I posted in the AVB thread that I really want it to work out for him, but I just don't see the progression in our play, or what the plan is when we attack. As an attacking unit, we are poor. We were playing one of the worst teams in the division tonight and we laboured, really struggled. The only time we looked half dangerous was when they got a corner and we could break on them.

We were a great hit away from mulling over dropped points and a poor performance. With no Bale to produce those moments on a consistent basis, is it any wonder we are struggling for goals this season? 52 league games now for AVB and the same, ponderous and rather blunt attacking play is still our big problem.
