*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City, Sunday 27th October***

I'm expecting more than 5 league goals in 5 home league games. Is this an unreasonable request? As a comparison, our rivals (two Manchesters, two other London clubs and probably two Liverpool clubs as well) have 13, 12, 9, 9, 7, 6. (7 is Man Utd, 6 is Everton). Those 5 games were against Norwich, Chelsea, Swansea, Hull and West Ham.

Even ignore the goals scored, sometimes you're destroying the other team, playing great, shots coming in all over the place, keeper having a great game etc. Did that happen today? Can you honestly say Harper was overly troubled today?

I find it strange that expecting some attacking fluidity or even some pressure on the opposition goal from a team that is still admittedly in need of gelling together, is somehow seen as a strange expectation.

Two things that bugged me today was a lack of shots from distance from us. Instead we tried to play it through and every time it hit a Hull player. There's creativity and movement, but our passing is off. Combine that with some sloppy ball losses that gives them a chance to counter it might look bad, but it's a work in progress. Hull really didn't offer much at all in the second half. That could be because they were camping at the edge of their own box with a 5-man defence.

And yeah, just to emphasize it;

4-4-2 FOR HOME GAMES; PLEASE!

**** 442 how about controling the game and creating something.
With 2 strikers up front we're not gonna create more.
We need holtby and eriksen in the centre of midfield running things passing the ball around the opposition.

--------Soldado
Chadli-----------Lamela
-----Holtby-Eriksen
--------Paulinho--------
Rose-Verts-Dawson-Walker
--------Lloris------------

Look at that 5 Midfielders who can pass the ball!

We're lucky Hull decided to camp out. If teams actually go for us then we start to wobble. We're definitely there for the taking. I'm not buying into this defensively solid business - we've basically played against no-one. Arsenal beat us and Chelsea would've without the red card. West Ham put three past us.

Sooner or later teams will figure out that we're toothless and fragile and start going for us. I'm certain its going to come sooner or later. I just hope in the mean time we can get our act together and learn how to attack.

Scoring goals and creating chances isd a fairly large part of the game of football, and we're fking dreadful at it.

Nevertheless, we have a great defensive base so if AVB can figure out how to get our players to gel, to pass and move near the box and supply Soldado on a regular basis, there should be the basis of a very good team there. We'll see how that goes this season.

The defensive base is two defensive midfielders we play in the centre. Its not because we have great defenders.
We're not gonna gel because we have a defensive base sitting were your creative players should be.

AVB has accused the fans of creating an anxious atmosphere, maybe they wouldn't be so anxious if you stopped us from playing such dire uninspiring football.

Agree 100% all of our defenders have looked dodgy at various points today and throught the season.
We've a great keeper though.

Paulinho isn't a defensive midfielder in any shape or form and we need at least one to allow our FBs freedom to get forward.

=D>

Spot on. We surely didn't buy the likes of Lamela and Eriksen to play 442. Just play football properly, pass, move and score. Like just about every other team in the league seems capable of.

Drop this high line nonsense as well. Why are we so fking fixated on cramming the game into a 20 yard box? We need to create SPACE, not chop the pitch down and squeeze 22 men into a small patio sized back garden.

A case where the result outweighed the performance on the pitch. I'd prefer it, especially as Hull were a bogey team for us.

1-0 to the Tottenham!! Oh well, another less than slick performance today but we finally have a manager who seems able to persuade referees into giving us penalties plus the mark of good teams is being able to win games when not performing at their best so I'm looking forward to when everything clicks and we start rolling over teams \o/

@OptaJoe: 4 - Tottenham have now won four Premier League games 1-0 this season, matching their total from last season. Narrow.
@Squawka: Roberto Soldado has scored 75% (3/4) of his Premier League goals for Spurs this season from the penalty spot.
@OptaJoe: 3 - After not winning a single PL penalty in 2012-13, Tottenham have now had more than any other team this season. Switch.

Soldado has an many league goals this season as Benteke ;)

Yet again we were boring and predictable. I'm afraid this is the best we are going to get from AVB. He is obviously happy with 60% possession and 20 shots from long range every game.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas:

"We looked like the away team, we played in a difficult atmosphere with almost no support. We have a wonderful set of fans but they can do better. Away from home we play with no fear and we need that atmosphere at White Hart Lane.

"We don't need the negativity that was in White Hart Lane today."

We've 3 men in there we dont need an out and out defensive midfielder.
Most team can get away without a destroyer in midfield who cant we?

Its starts with the negativity on the pitch.
Where is the "To Dare is to Do"?
Does AVB know anything about the culture and history of the club?
We are not Chelsea.

He doesn't have to be a destroyer, his main task is to cover when both FBs have gone AWOL. Paulinho isn't that player, his strongest point is his running, getting into good attacking positions.
