True dat. Also people said the same things about modric and berbatov and they proved to be pretty astute signings. I don't understand some people's expectations re player signings. We can't compete with the top clubs for players they really want so we haave to be more astute in the players we go for and take more gambles, but that doesn't mean signing worse players, just those players that big clubs arent entirely sure of.

Eriksen is only 21. By the time he'd got to 24 he' d have been at a top club, we just got in there early.
 
By the time he's 24, he'll be at a top club. Whether we're that top club depends upon how successful we are and how much Barcelona was his team as a child of 3 years old. Did he have the Barcelona toothbrush & bicycle stabilisers?

Plus depends how good he is at faking injuries and taking press conferences in which he pretends that he finds the idea of leaving our club hard and appreciates the fans but Barcelona are the best etc

I'm surprised btw at the constant comparisons to Ozil, when Eriksen seems more similar to Coutinho and Oscar in terms of age, build, status (Ozil is already well-established in the elite tier), and patient timing of passes.

I'd prefer it if there were no comparisons at all - I'm just happy we finally have a proper playmaker.

Agreed. I think a lot of it stems from lazy journalism.

If we weren't rivals with Arsenal who would directly compare a £10m 21 year old likely on no more than £60-70k p/w to a £40m 24 year old reportedly paid closer to 200k p/w one game into their respective seasons?
 
Who was it that said age is irrelevant, if a player is ready, he's ready. Eriksen is 21, he's got the experience of a 24/25 year old and he looks the bollox.

Modders left 2 seasons ago, last year we did miss his creativity, Eriksen I think will prove to be better for us than Modders because I think he has the potential to score more goals, plus he has a more solid midfield behind him.

This season is going to be very interesting.....
