January transfer window wishlist

Dembele is worth £15m easily. No way would i spend £30m on Barkley

Shaw is good but we could easily get £8m for Rose so again £23m is to much.

I agree with you. These numbers do not add up from a Spurs perspective.

You could probably make a good argument for selling Rose for a fee north of £8mil if a suitable replacement (e.g. Coentrao) was in place, but Demble is worth £20mil to us and IMHO we would be mad to sell him. Barkley is rising talent but I wouldn't swap him for Dembele let alone throwing an extra 15mil on top.

And for those that think Barkley has so much potential at his age,
he's just one year younger than Eriksen.

I have seen quite a lot of positive press about him this weekend. Watching the game I wasn't impressed at all.. Nothing I see told me he was a natural or future Utd player.

Wow, totally disagree. Thought he showed a hell of a lot of ability, and his introduction with Fellaini is what spurred United on to get the second goal at a time when they looked short of ideas.

I guess we all see these things differently.

I knew I would probably be on my own with that opinion. Everything I read has been has been so positive. I really want to watch the game again to see what I missed.

He was a nippy winger to me as well. Got fouled by the big boys. Same thing used to happen to Chadwick and the bald French bloke.

OK, talking about baldies..what about Shelvey? He made loads of mistakes last night but he put himself on offer all evening and did not crumble.

I like him.

I like him actually. With Shelvey, Hughes, Carroll, Barkley and Redmond, England might actually have a decent midfield again in 3 or 4 years' time.

But I also think we're past the level now where he'd get any game time for us, so I'd rather see him blossom at Swansea.

Err...why not?

Because giving him time on the pitch ahead of Paulinho, Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Eriksen or Lamela would be madness? Because he was just shipped out from Liverpool because he couldn't get game time ahead of their midfielders and we have a much stronger squad in that area than them? Because young players his age need time on the pitch to develop? Because we already have young players around his age at a similar level?

Isn't England's chance of a decent midfield in the future more down to the the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wheelchair, Walcott, Cleverley?

Not as a transfer target but I think Shelvey will be a serious player, needs that maturity that he'll get by playing week in week out
