A talented attacking 21 year old who should be cheap due to the short length of contract they have left, seems a no brainer to me. Sure he has weaknesses but what 21 year old doesn't.
Only reason this deal would annoy me is if there was a more experienced player available and affordable who would go straight into the first team - such as Turan - who we didn't get because of this.

It does just a bit...
One point about him playing on the left is that the club seemingly rated Chadli higher in that position as it's been obvious all summer that Eriksen would be available yet we went for Chadli early.
However all of Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela are fairly versatile players that can play multiple positions in multiple formations. That can't be a bad thing imo.

if this happens, seems sensible.
young and with potential - so from a dquad position, is likely to be ok with not playing every game as he develops (unlike Turan - who would want to play).
versatile too, which i think AVB wants out of the 3 attacking midfielders, players than can switch and drag the opposition around and still be able to play whether they are on the left, centrally or the right.
i think you might start seeing Lennon played more from the bench to stretch teams if needed - whether that be to get in behind a high line, hit teams on the counter or protect a lead by making teams have to sit deep.
Eriksen in would surely spell the end for Siggy. And lets be honest, it hasn't really worked out.

Is it possible that Eriksen was AVB/Baldini's original choice for the inside left spot of a front 3 until Willian became free, which distracted them for a week, and they are now back to Eriksen?
At least, that's my understanding of the positions - Lamela inside right, Eriksen inside left and Soldado in the middle. I could be wrong on that though.

I also don't think this means the end of Sig at all. He's never actually had a run in the position that he is suited for - a lot like Dempsey really. The 4-2-3-1 we played was to suit Bale and Lennon, but a move to 4-3-3 with Sig in the attacking midfield role he played for Swansea will be great. He will have to fight it out with Paulinho for it but he should get a lot of games there.
Sounds feasible that Eriksen was the pre-Willian choice.
Interesting that AVB said that if we get some of our targets, we can be the team that has pushed on from last year, and if we get others, we won't be. I wonder who he means?
Also that we are in talks with others that aren't being mentioned yet.

Lennon gone if you ask me, and I don't think Chadli is seen as an automatic first choice. Chadli probably just the first option we got hold of in terms of moulding the squad to a 433.

Not really been given the chance in his proper position, IMO.
I think he can come good, there's a good player there.

I meant as a three. As much as I like Eriksen more advanced with two of Dembele/Paulinho and Sandro/Capoue, I am pretty sure we could have had Holtby or Sigurdsson play there instead?
