Lennon's back baby!

Selecta02.jpg

Not feeling the beard, makes him look very long chinned.

Is it considered blasphemy on this site to wonder how much we could get for him? I know he has quite a few fanboys but he doesn't offer half the movement he used to with Charlie and surely we'd be able to get a younger replacement in with a few more tricks / allow Townsend to get some playing time as well... Lennons had times where he's been a boss in games but I just think it might be time to move on.

Please please can anyone remember the comments on here when Lennon was on his purple patch (it was literally just 3 good games...3 good games ffs). So many people were claiming he was in the best form of his life, how AVB is the reason this is happening etc etc.

The truth is this guy was far more effective when he first burst through the scene. As the years progressed and his game 'developed' he became far more predictable and far less effective imo (i don't care what OPTA stats say).

who would be interested? Utd? Chelsea? City? i dont think so. after that we are left with Liverpool, Everton, Saudi Sportswashing Machine. Only Liverpool could and would possibly pay 12-15 mill for him. Would Lennon drop any further down the league?

See i would say the same thing about Parker... How could anybody want him? hah

I don't know, I could see Lennon going to a lower level Prem team. Why not Villa or one of the newly promoted teams? Don't know who would invest the money though..

My guess/hope is that we could get something like 8-9mil for him? Would definitely take it if we had an offer.

you're mad mate - i can understand the frustration but Lennon is still a very useful player to have at the club even if you don't consider him to be worthy of a starting place, imv - wouldn't begin to consider any bid at that level

I agree - why sell him?

What other squad player (if you consider him to be one) will you get who is a) as good as him and b) costing £1m... never.

We always talk about loyalty and always referring to a players loyalty to us (the clu) but barely any mention of our loyalty to players. He has been ever present and part of the furniture. We need players like that and have always maintained that stance. Too many Levys about.

I don't even think it's frustration honestly.. I just have seen more out of Townsend in his time with QPR last year than I've seen with Lennon since we were in the Champs league.

If we were to get some kind of money for him I genuinely don't think we'd have to buy anyone else as we could move Falque up behind Townsend. If we're looking for someone who can replace Bale on the right and be a game changer, IMO Townsend proved last year, he's more the man for the job than Lennon.

He played much better with Stalteri and Corluka as they have him space to move into. Walker cramps him on the right hand side,

This, I cant believe they didnt work on this in preseason or training but Walker and Lennon have no connection or understanding of how to link up. TBF Walker seems to overhit a few balls that give Lennon no chance but still a little give and go at their pace can do serious damage. Maybe one has to go...

Agree with KD on this. Was far more excited by Lennon when he first came on the scene. I think he should now be used as an impact player.

The end of Aaron Lennon

With the imminent announcement of Lamela, a shoe in for the starting 11, the immergance of Townsend and the signing of Chadli, does this spell the end for Azza? The best he can hope for this season in my opinion is being an impact sub. Who knows if he is ready to take that step down, especially with the WC so close. I think we very well might see him try to force a move to a lower club.

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

No. Unless we get a silly offer or sign another player. We need some strength in depth and competition. Lennon has showed his worth already this season. He can change games. We need more not less of these players.

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

He still gives us the orthodox pacey winger option and who knows, he might raise his game now he's seriously under threat. Plus we can't sell off every English player we have, there are rules to abide by.

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

I agree with Rossi, remember how he upped his game when we signed Bentley

if I was picking the team he'd still be starting

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

Providing we get our targets that's:

Capoue
Sandro
Paulinho
Dembele
Holtby
Sigurdsson
Eriksen
Carroll
Chadli
Lamela
Lennon
Townsend

all those fighting for 5 spots. I think Carroll should be loaned out.....or maybe we should give Holtby a premiership loan?

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

What the ****? How does this mean the end?

Does signing Capoue and Paulinho also mean the end for either Dembele or Sandro?

Squad remember...

What is it with us on this board and selling players

Re: The end of Aaron Lennon

Personally, out of all of them? I'd sell Sigurdsson or at least loan him out.
