Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Press conference is due today. Anyone know what time?

Already been done. Bale is now off to Doncaster Rovers and we have the 1D singer as a straight swap. Spurs then get 75% royalties off of any 1D singles and albums until Arsenal win the treble.

Re: Gareth Bale

450 mill turnover, wages to turnover ratio of less than 50%, they make 120 mill pounds from tv rights alone, 25 mill a year from the new Fly Emirates shirt sponsorship, the club is rolling in cash and all this "we want to pay for Bale over 5 years " is just their tactic to keep the overall price down.

They have the money, they will pay a world record sum, we will be fine

It looks as if this is being challenged by the Spanish government now though, with talk of a new law being passed this year that reshapes the collective bargaining position for TV rights in Spain.

"Spain's government plans to push for a new law that will give the Spanish football league control over the collective sale of television rights in a move to improve club finances, collect outstanding taxes, and increase competitiveness. Miguel Cardenal, president of Spain's Sports Council, said on Thursday (24 June 13) that he wants to present the new law by the end of this year to give the league more power over the individual clubs.

Spain's football clubs have reduced their tax debts by 80 million euros ($140 million) but still owe the tax office around 670 million euros ($874 million). Cardenal said that having the league control TV revenues would increase transparency and improve the state's ability to collect on its tax bills.

"The centralization (of TV rights) would let the public administrations be the first to get paid," he said. "Thirty-five percent of revenues from TV rights won't be passed on to the clubs that can't show they are up to date on their payments."

Cardenal also said the government's new plan for sustainability has set a target of reducing the debt of Spain's football leagues from 4 billion euros ($5.2 billion) to 3 million euros ($3.9 million) by 2016.

The gravy train that RM and Barca have sat on for the last decade may at last start to be derailed... and this will impact their budgets big time

Rumours abound now that Bale is tinkled at AVB and will not show up for training on Tuesday. Source is Ben McAleer on twitter.

Unhappy Gareth Bale faces Tottenham fine if he fails to return to training on Tuesday
4 Aug 2013 22:30

Gareth Bale is facing a club fine if he does not turn up for training with Tottenham tomorrow [Tuesday].

The 24-year-old winger - for whom Real Madrid are willing to pay up to £105million - is said to be “unhappy and disappointed” by renewed claims from Andre Villas-Boas that he is not for sale.

Bale is currently in Wales on a short break as the Spurs squad have a day off today.

But Spurs have dismissed out of hand claims at the weekend that he said his goodbyes to the rest of the squad for the last time on Friday as they flew to Monaco for a friendly.

Bale is expected back at Tottenham’s Enfield HQ along with the rest of the squad on Tuesday morning.

Spurs have it within their power to fine him if he does not return.

It is getting really messy. It is clear Bale is not getting good advice from his agent. Hope the club will be firm in this matter.

Yeah I was reading this too. This would tally with the now or never line that has been mentioned.

Aside, I am amazed that the other Spanish league clubs haven't already taken matters into their own hands by now and forced a fairer distribution of the TV money in some way.

Re: Gareth Bale

he wont be having these short breaks in Wales when he lands in Madrid !!

Re: Gareth Bale

"Unhappy Gareth Bale faces Tottenham fine if he fails to return to training on Tuesday" - I assume that would apply to any player who missed training.

Re: Gareth Bale

I don't know what to believe in terms of his unhappiness and whether there's truth in him being bratty etc but if he was to miss training on Tuesday then I'm done with all of this and want him out of the club ASAP.

Update from conversation I had yesterday.
Bale is not for sale unless Tottenham receive a ridiculous offer. The money offered, and quoted in the press, even though a world record, is not deemed ridiculous by the spurs board. Tottenham have told Madrid this. There are no current negotiations and no current contact between the clubs.
Tottenham feel they must be compensated for the commercial outlay and immediate loss of earnings if Bale goes. This would mean an offer significantly north of £80 million.

The payment structure that was written in the press is rubbish. No fee has been agreed; so talk of payment structure is very wide of the mark; no negotiations are taking place.

Regarding the player swap, the Portuguese left back, Tottenham don’t want it involved in the Bale transfer and here’s why.
I have already mentioned that AVB was offered Luke Shaw as a potential target and AVB refused.
The Portuguese left back, was a target before the Madrid/Bale saga. Tottenham were quoted a price and wanted to discuss terms. Then the Bale saga kicked off and Madrid decided to negotiate at a higher price.

On Bale.
He has not refused to train. He has been working on his fitness.
It was AVB’s decision not to play him on tour.
He wanted to stay at Tottenham and asked his agent to negotiate a deal for next year.
Real Madrid said to him it’s now or never. He would be happy to stay for another year.
He doesnt feel he is ready to move.
It’s difficult for him and not fair to question or to slag off his character.

So it’s going to take an amazing offer to get him.

Other news.
There are offers on the table for Sigurðsson and Adebayor.
And more of opinion than anything else, but from what I’ve heard Tottenham will go back for the Brazilian kid.

Hopefully this is true - quite positive for once

Yeah let's cave in to players at the first sign of trouble, sets a good benchmark that

I hope some fans turn up to give him support.....Show how much we need him..

Gareth Bale.............................. Bale Bale Bale..................................

Re: Gareth Bale

Bale can not be upset with AVB or Spurs

He wants to leave and I would assume he believes that is his right....

He is our player so getting the best price for him under our terms is in turn, our right

Bale has no choice but to play ball here and make a clean move, if he starts acting up Levy will win hands

I just meant it personally, I fully expect the club to stand firm until all their demands are met. We've shown in the past we don't cave in at first sign of trouble and long may that continue, I'm just fed up.

I would love this to be true, sadly The Journalist has a shoddy ITK record :(

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm sure that privately AVB has every sympathy for Bale and that the lad knows this. Why? Well, because it could so easily be the other way round, with Madrid begging AVB to go there, and the manager faces a battle against Levy et al. Truth is, its not AVB pulling the strings here and what he said was not an attack at Bale himself.

Given his nature, I doubt if Bale is stropping with anyone at WHL, he's not a prima donna. It's possible he is "refusing to talk" to some people at the club in that he may have been advised not to discuss the Madrid situation itself, by his agent. But I see no reference anywhere else to his character being one where he will throw his toys out of the pram.

He probably DOES want to go to Madrid. But I doubt if he will do half the things to agitate for a move that people speculate on.

Re: Gareth Bale

The "not for sale" line is purely price positioning, the harder we dig in the more we get, that's how I see it
