Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Well you know what Churchill said

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

Winston Churchill

having said that though

There are a terrible lot of lies going about the world, and the worst of it is that half of them are true.
Winston Churchill

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Winston Churchill

but then again

Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense
Winston Churchill

As you can tell I'm bored

Re: Gareth Bale

Maybe we can insist on having Di Maria on loan for the season. He won't agree to a permanent deal imo but he would probably agree to a loan (can see Madrid putting pressure on him to accept too).

GHod at times we're thick as fudging pig brick. They had Higuain and Callejon a few weeks back...couldn't we have made it known to them then that if we accept a deal it would have to include 1 or 2 of them?

A few weeks back, Madrid had agreed to back off and stop tapping Bale & Barnet up and everyone thought it was done until next summer, when he would move on.

Ancelotti came in and told them he wanted Bale at all costs. We don't want player+ deals, and we were not interested in selling the player because, bluntly, HE was happy enough to stay one more year. Then they stepped up their dirty process.

Re: Gareth Bale

Daniel Levy is angry and does not want to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. The Tottenham chairman considers it humiliating that 'los Blancos' are making a move for Bale just a year after they signed Modric. He has told Madrid’s board members that his club is not Real’s youth academy and that they will have to pay €145m (£125m) if they want to sign Bale.

It is more than just a question of money. What the Tottenham chairman wants is to make a point. He wants to take his anger out on Real Madrid by demanding a transfer fee which 'los Blancos' see as unaffordable.

The first ever three-figure transfer fee: that is what Levy wants. Neither Bale’s pleas nor Madrid’s big-money offers can make him play ball. He is angry and will not listen to reason.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that bit was true, actually. Seems like something Levy would say to Madrid and Bale. We are not Real’s feeder team, and considering their conduct any spurious calls for ’reason’ are laughable. This applies to both the odious Madrid and Gareth Bale himself.

Re: Gareth Bale

Levy and Spurs have all the power here... 3 years on his contract.

I doubt we will sell him. Maybe if they went to 9 figures...

Re: Gareth Bale

Posted elsewhere..

Bale has already elevated Spurs global visibility to new heights with his great play and all this attendant transfer speculation.

He is one of the world's most-watched players and by keeping him on board this season, Spurs will enjoy untold added publicity and take huge steps toward restoring the club's image to the level achieved from the '60s to the '80s. The value to the new stadium and shirt sponsorship deals is limitless if he propels us into a CL berth or, dare to dream, title contention.

Daniel Levy has done a great job so far juggling all these pianos. NO amount of money can adequately replace the benefits of keeping Bale this season. I can't for one second endorse any other opinion or discuss what mix of money and players we should hope to see come in. He's just too valuable to let go at this point in time.

Tbh mate you've been saying throughout that there's no chance he's leaving, no way at all, not a chance in hell.....now you're claiming to know exactly what the ins and outs of the whole fiasco is.

Re: Gareth Bale

that's what he was alluding to in the first place (knowing the Ins and Outs)

things change - Bale has had his head turned by the looks of it - doesn't mean that it was always destined to happen or that early on what Steff was saying wasn't the situation at the time.

he may have been a little foolish to be so brazenly confident though - knowing what the likely figures to be involved could be, im sure he'd agree

I keep hearing this phrase 'head turned' - what does that mean?

He knew RM would come in for him so he would have been prepared. Was he seduced? Because if he was then I guess it shows his mental frailties and that is why I think he may fail - he wont handle the pressure.

That's the thing , things change. There's no need for definite statements time and time again when we all know how football works (especially so early into the window). That's the same problem with itk's, they're so quick to make these definite statements just so they can say "i said it first" without realising things change.

that's a funny conclusion to draw mate

he won't make it at Madrid because his head has been turned - even more funny when you open the post saying you don't even understand what it means :p
