The all new Striker thread..

IMO, even connected with such a crime means we should not touch with a barge pole

Not a great fan of innocent until proven guilty then?

Personally I don't see any club buying him until his future is sorted out, but he could be worth a loan deal on the proviso the loan is cancelled if convicted.

Of course I do.. just think when your purchasing something, not unlike a car.. you check the service history and should it have a few kinks in it you don't purchase.

I've changed my mind about this now anyway in light of the Chadli signing.

Now all the rest of our front 5 are big power players, but with limited creativity, we now need a forward who can create for himself. So instead of a mover and finisher like Soldado or Leandro, I know think we now need a Berbatov-esque player like Osvaldo.

That Berbatov is Berbatov-esque.

But they is both the same bloke!

I assume you are against the re-signing of one of our greatest ever players?

Both Berbatov and Osvaldo.

I would be terribly disappointed if we re-signed that first ****, I'd rather we signed nobody.

very odd that now you come to this , and so late in the day

when did we NOT have players of limited creativity?

KD's answered this. But I mean it's signing Chadli over someone like Bernard, as well as Paulinho over someone in the Moutinho/Pjanic mould, that has caused me to think this.

Why have we though? Is this square pegs round holes again? Is this AVB not getting players he wants - I mean its devoid of guile and creative intelligence. You got the pace, power, strength and directness from the five but im surprised no one is there who can really unlock a defence which is our issue at home and was our issue at home throughout last season.

Just really concerned that apart from Bale that our team doesnt have the goals in them.

its quite possible we will remain with Ade, Defoe and Dempsey ........

Yeah I don't know.

Either we're making 3rd or 4th back-up signings like Chadli for primarily financial reasons, or AVB has some genius masterplan that's going to coach us into a revolutionary form of collective (rather than individual) creativity.

I still have a faint lingering hope that Chadli has been brought in to replace Dempsey and we'll still go for Bernard as well when the auction starts for him on Thursday.

I dont know if Bernard is any good but I am confused of whether we have a brickload of money that we can spend 6m or so on Chadli (is he any good?) and have left overs for creative midfielder and a striker? or we are still focussing on the non priority areas.

It could be a financially calculated signing - £6m for a low wage 23 yo in and out goes £6m medium wage 29 yo Dempsey.

Numbers wise if we do still go for a creative midfielder now it will likely mean some less obvious (than Hudd and Parker) departing - i.e. Dempsey (if it's Bernard), Siggy or Carroll (if it's Eriksen, Pjanic or McCarthy).

I haven't seen much of Chadli, but I thought the general idea was that he would be first choice on the left in a 4-3-3. Very much a priority area.
