this time he is messing with the wrong guy in Lerner, just like Levy stepped all over Modric's desire to join Chelsea

if no-one pays the asking price and Benteke throws a sulk and refuses to play/train, he will simply rot in the reserves. Once he realises his World Cup dream is at stake, he will most likely come grovelling back and apologise and continue with Villa
 
i think once Liverpool sell Suarez they will pay Villa the 25 mill. Then its up to Benteke. Another season at Villa, or a move and guaranteed football at Liverpool

£26M for James Milner was an incredible piece of business!

I know it's easy to say with the benefit of hindsight, but I didn't want us to sign Bent or Bentley (was ecstatic about Rebrov, Dumitrescu and fairly pleased with Pav tbf) but I've never wanted us to fail in signing someone more than with Benteke [-o<

I was against signing Adebayor last summer but this is will be an even bigger waste of money.

](*,) your entitled to your opinion......but that's a pretty bold statement.....such a terrible player to set the epl alight in his first season at a tender age.

Milner was their most influential player. Very underrated when he was there.

Also, can't we throw £15million or so at Michu? Why haven't we been linked to him yet?

Only time will tell, he definitely divides opinion but that's 100% genuinely my view. I'm my mind he didn't set the epl alight, just scored a lot of goals. So did Bent. Anyway appreciate that's not everyone's (including a lot of the media's) view. I just struggle to hide more concern on this one and thought the Belgian Journo's view on him was telling. I have followed this board for about 15 years and never been compelled to post before this. Sincerely hope I'm wrong should we sign him...

15 mill for Michu?? doubt it

i think Swansea will look at Villa's valuation of Benteke and simply demand the same 25 mill for Michu.

after all, Swansea managed to get 15 mill for Joe Allen :eek:, so Jenkins the chairman is no rollover mug
 
Benteke has 3 years left on his contract so if I were the Villa manager I would do what Levy would do. put a £25m price tag on his head and refuse to sell for a penny less not for cash and player(s). Spurs then have to decide to either cough up £25m or jog on to someone else and the sooner they do that the better.

The simple fact he has 3 years left means they do not have to lower their asking price.
