Watched American Psycho again. Questions:

Is it real or a dream? Parts of me think that it was real but not quite as the movie tells us, for example I doubt the escorts were as hot, I doubt he was killing people whilst wearing nice clothes etc but that was all apart of his fantasy. For example, why has no one heard a chainsaw throughout the whole building? Why hasn't the security guard seen blood trailing when he drags Paul Allens dead body through the lobby? Then again, I have never read the book so I don't know if it gives you a better understanding, maybe I should read it.

And what's with the whole Paul Allen thing and him actually being in London? Is that just mistaken identity which happens through out the whole film or does it indeed prove that the whole thing really was a dream in Batemans head?

Were the drawings in his diary what we saw all along throughout the film? Just coming to life inside Batemans head, thus showing us what we saw on the screen?

Regarding his outbursts too, (where he says he'd kill the asian lady, shouts at the bar girl etc) are those just things he's saying in his head, hence hardly any reactions from anyone? or are people just so self-obsessed that they don't really care or listen (sort of leaning towards that as the asian lady did sort of react)?

The fudge happened to Allens apartment?

The explanation I like is this:

The film is not just about the character Patrick Bateman, the psycho. It's also a mockery of the whole 80's Wall Street scene.

If you notice, pretty much everyone in his office looks and acts exactly the same. They are all white guys with brown hair, glasses, suits; they even have the same business card, although they brag about the differences.

They're so much alike that nobody knows who anyone else is. Paul Allen always confused Patrick Bateman with Marcus Halberstrand. Then Bateman's own lawyer calls him "Davis."

What it is saying is that they are all so caught up in their own greed and narcissism that he can literally get away with murder and nobody notices.

think he is turning into bruce willis

saw something the other day where he said they got the guy who wrote the batman movies to take a look at doing a script for the next bourne movie with damon in it, but they felt it was not quite right. Would love to see another bourne movie and not like the brick in the summer.

I 'personally' think The Dark Knight is over-rated. It's a good movie made great by the performance of Heath Ledger. But it plods on occasion and is overly long.

Memento is a cracker though.

Memento is by far his best work. I love the DVD option to actually watch the film chronologically.

I'm a bit biased about The Dark Knight tbh as I watched it at London IMAX and it was the first feature film I saw that had some proper IMAX footage (rather than the usual upscaled DMR stuff) which was awesome to behold on the giant screen 8)

A shame that filming in IMAX is not so profitable for the film studios as (gimmicky) 3D.

I saw it opening night at the IMAX at Waterloo and agree, the opening scene in IMAX gave me a bout of vertigo when the opening shot of Gotham flashes up haha.

Memento is probably his best film imo.

Prestige>Memento>Batman Begins>TDK>TDKR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Inception

Not seen the rest of his movies

Yup those overhead IMAX shots of Hong Kong' skyline in The Dark Knight were incredibly vivid and looked more three dimensional than poxy 3D movies!

Yes, excellent film. Helped by that the fact that in my younger days I had the hots for Ally Sheedy.

Cant say its in my Top 5, but a great movie all the same. Paul Gleason as the Teacher is brilliant

Back down in Enfield this weekend for the City game, so that means Odeon on Saturday night.
Its a choice between
Oblivion
Olympus has fallen
Scary Movie 5

A bit of sci-fi escapism or the action movie or just 90mins of silly humour?

Basically looking at their schedule, they will be the only 3 we havent seen that are on at an appropriate time. Not seen many people air their views on Oblivion and recent Crusie films have not impressed me.
Saw the Olympus trailer this morning and looks to have potential, plus it does have Morgan Freeman, who I think its just superb.
I think had we been going after the match and not before it may have required Scary Movie 5, because I fear we may need cheering up after the football and it does look like having a fair few laughs. So you're right OHF it looks like it could well be.
Unless we have any new releases due out Friday
