omt*** Tottenham Hotspur Vs Leeds United

Leeds fully deserved their win - we simply didn't create enough chances today or convert the precious few that we did.

A great loss, we still can not play the best team in the FA EL PL, so now it's just EL and PL left. We saw today that we can not rest any players and still be good, so a great loss! IMO

So much for glory glory Tottenham Hotspur.
I thought we were trying to win trophies not go on an Arsenal like spell.

OMG>>>> AVB saying he's not looking for a striker this window! What happens if Defoe's injury turns out to be long-term?

He also said Defoe will be fit got Norwich. I personally would not take any notice of what he says regarding transfers as he seems to have been told to keep quiet. Was far to blunt for AVB to be honest.

Should have done Holtby deal soon as the beast ruled out for rest of season .
As for a striker think the disappointment will continue two first team strikers on the books is poor

Friedel and Dempsey played OK. Everyone else was below par. Sometimes you have an off game but there absolutely no excuse for not giving everything, and I saw way to much of that today. Too many players static or walking. No desire to win this match. Embarrassing performance.

One Adebayor told us that he was going to the African cup of nations, that should have been our cue really.

There is no way of proving that. I am 100% sure that had Friedel for whatever reason been playing against Man utd, we would have had a lot of posts saying that Lloris would have saved that. Yet he didn't.

The point is that the whole team was brick from front to back. Changing the keeper wouldn't have done anything.

We were all brick. I can agree with that. Look I'm not on Brad's back. I think this is what happens when you rotate your keepers. He looked rusty. This never happened twenty years ago. Jennings and Clemence always played and this was when there were no penalty shootouts in the FA Cup, the League Cup was over two legs and there were twenty two teams in the First Division.

You're confident that Lloris would have made Naughton run back rather than stand still and claim for offside? You're confident that Lloris would have made Vertonghen run back rather than have a leisurely stroll back? You're confident that Lloris would have made Parker protect the defence better? You're confident that Lloris would have taught our defence how to stay awake and the offside rule. You're confident that Lloris would have taught our whole team how to pass and move? To have another striker?

I like Lloris a lot, was delighted when we got him and thought he should have been first choice from the moment he got here (though I respected the reasons for AVB doing what he did). This legend that has grown around him is a bit ridiculous now however. We were brick from front to back today. Lloris wouldn't have changed one iota.

Small details make big differences. We needed our good goalkeeper today and we didnt play him. He sweeps everything around on the floor, and in the air. And he gives the defense confidence. It is no coincidence that they were all over the place today.

I agree, they wanted it more and we were way below our best.

Once again a problem of mentality when facing teams that are seen as smaller/worse than us. The difference in mentality between this performance and the United one is just too big. There will always be a difference, but AVB must find some way to get the players up to a higher level in games like these. The players need to shoulder a lot of the blame of course, they're the ones out there on the pitch.

We started Friedel, Vertonghen. Parker and Dempsey. All experienced players, several of them have captained various sides in the past, players that you'd think would take some responsibility. Yet we weren't able to put real pressure on Leeds until way into the second half.

This is worrying, not so much because we're out of the FA-cup, but because it's a systematic problem that has been a problem for many years and a problem that AVB so far hasn't been able to sort out at all. I don't have the answer to what needs to be done, but I hope AVB has some kind of plan for this kind of thing.

If Dawson/Gallas had played instead of Caulker, then it would have made a much bigger difference than swapping keepers.

I think we were a bit arrogant with how we played , even after their first goal there wasnt much of a reaction at all- players like Bale and Hudd especially. Caulker for the 2nd goal looked really clumsy and shaky and Verts performance was dreadful, easily his worst for us. How people are singling out Friedel instead makes no sense at all as he made class saves.

Lets hope its a once off and we get one or two in on deadline day.

Would be nice to win trophies! But unfortunately, it is more important for a club to reach the CL than winning a domestic cup, it's the reality we live in!

Bale had a good game.
I sometimes dont know what you people want from the lad?

We have 2 good goalkeepers.

Lloris seemingly forgot to sweep for Van Persie's goal, a goal in which our defence completely switched off and yet he received little criticism for it. Had that been Friedel, I am 100% sure people would have posted about what an old man he is, how Lloris would have come out for that or how Lloris' reflexes meant he would have gotten there or how his presence inspires the defence to not make mistakes blah blah.

Lloris is a better keeper than Friedel. But Friedel is still one of the better keepers in the league and people on here insist on speaking about him as if he's Fulop. It is ridiculous.

Contrary to the belief of some I think AVB actually wants Negredo and he's not going anywhere until Sevilla have extracted every last penny from the buying club. Add to that our previous encounters with them.

Nicely summed up and I agree with every word. The double standards when it comes to blaming certain players is quite sickening on this forum. Fortunately I don't see it many other places from our support.

No amount of domestic cup trophies is gonna help us in the transfer market. We COULD go back to our early 90s form, where the occasional cup run was all we had to look forward to or we could make getting into the CL a priority in order to finance better players in the future.
