Modric - No Longer A Spurs Player

Re: modric

yesterday when southstand created that BA thread i hoped you would turn heel and ban Southstand for creating the thread...sadly you didn't.

Re: modric

I remember watching a Madrid match a few weeks ago and as Modric was subbed it showed his stats.

It was something like

76 minutes played
17 passes
36% Pass accuracy.

Pretty fudging terrible if you ask me.

Re: modric

Wish as we might, he's not brick

He went to Madrid at a bad point, they are struggling this year, and a managerial change is probably imminent.

That said, he's probably on 2X wages, works less and still has a shot of winning the CL (even on a bad year).

Tottenham just pip Arsenal in public vote to title of club selling worst player to La Liga in 2012

Posted by SPORT WITNESS on December 31, 2012 at 10:54 in

The Spanish football loving public have voted former Tottenham Hotspur star Luca Modric as the worst La Liga signing of 2012. The Real Madrid midfielder received a huge 32.2% of the votes in a poll conducted by newspaper Marca and was closely followed by ex Arsenal player Alex Song.

Modric has struggled to fit in to the Real Madrid team since his switch in the summer transfer window and to date has only scored one goal in nineteen appearances. In total he has only completed 717 minutes of the 1530 minutes in the league since his arrival as questions about his fitness have come to light. Jose Mourinho has already gone on record to raise concerns about the midfielder’s physical condition since he signed from the Premier League club.

Modric’s poor run of form has coincided with Real Madrid’s dismal period in the league, in which they are 16 points behind leaders Barcelona. The La Liga holders currently lie in third position, seven points behind local rivals Atletico Madrid. The club have managed to make it through to the next stages of the Champions League but face a tough task against Premier League leaders Manchester United with the tie now crucial to Real Madrid’s whole season and Jose Mourinho's future.

Modric left in controversy after demanding a move from the club last summer and his failings will give pleasure to some Tottenham Hotspur fans. Marca, the magazine to give him this unwanted title, played a big part in unsettling Modric and could be accused of starting to do similar with Gareth Bale.

North London rivals Arsenal will also take some twisted pleasure in the fact that Alex Song came second in the poll after he left to join Barcelona for €19m in the last transfer window. The former Arsenal man was brought in as utility play to cover midfield and defence but he has hardly figured. Despite injures in defence throughout the first half of the season the Cameroon international hasn’t been used much by manager Tito Vilanova.

That the two signings from the Premier League have been voted the worst of the year in Spain won't do much to improve the reputation of English football in Spain. However, Modric was arguably not what Real Madrid needed and that perhaps has more to do with supporters feeling let down.

Someone should show this to Bale. As for Modric, that's what you get for being greedy and too ambitious.

Re: modric

Poor Real Madrid. They had just won league title after so long and Ronaldo were on song last season. Modric went and jinxed them !

Re: modric

I really, really liked Modric and still rate him highly, however I think that the Sandro/Dembele midfield pair is better than Modric/Parker. Just goes to show that no player is bigger than the club.

I've watched pretty much all the matches he's played for Madrid and almost without exception he's been pants. I know he capable of more but he has looked a class below his team mates. It is hard to say if he'll turn it around but the Madrid crowd are not known for their patience. I think he's already fooked.

We should bring the **** back

No doubt they will say something like Modric plus 20m for Bale

I would have him back in a flash. Sandro Modric and Dembele gives me a hard on - let Dembele run riot in front of the creative Modric and destructive Sandro.

I'd have him back for £20 million, he's utter class

It's Levy mate, we would get him back for £15, with Madrid paying half his wages for 4 years ...
