**Official Other Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Would they really sack him? Especially after last season?

They definitely can't get anyone better so I don't really understand why they would do that.

Because that's what they do, they sack managers. Didn't they sack Capello the year they won the title? I'm sure they sacked a manager after winning the CL too.

Yep. It's still the same players. Changing the manager is easier and keeps the fans happy.

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Unlikely - as he s aiming to bring the CL in this season

To be honest that won't happen if the manager and players don't get along. They were already outplayed by Dortmund in both games, and there are better teams than Dortmund still left in the competition.

Dortmund are very much underrated. They are 1 of the best teams in the world at this present time.

Indeed they are, but he's right about there being better teams. Bayern and Barca are better. Dortmund are probably 4th best in Europe.

It's unlikely if this league form continues.

Their morale has got to be taking such a hit at the lead Barca are getting..

Liverpool 4-0 after getting tanked by Villa..who we play next..
MOTD on now so people can give their decision on the ref at Wigan..

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

What a miss Kone..soft penalty IMO..2 handballs has to give Wigan a pen

Hansen says Walcott "entitled to go down"
Then says that fellow Wigan players will be "disappointed" that Kone does not go down under similar challenges.

Those kind of quotes are exactly what's wrong with football today

What happened to Soton's stripes? Fletcher-maybe second best buy of the season if he keeps Sunderland up.

Great pass from Rose in the 1st minute but nothing else in the highlights

Why?

Both are fouls - youre actually missing the point mate. The issue isnt diving (yet again) its the referees. A player feels they have to go down to get what they should be getting i.e. a foul. That game was perfect for highlighting the main issue (but not the point you wish it was about). It highlights that a referee will not give a penalty unless you go down even though both challenges were nigh on identical.

Walcott didnt purposefully fall he was shoved and fell to the ground - penalty.

Kone was shoved but didnt fall to the ground - no penalty

You explain the difference - both offenses were penalties.

A very good point made very well.
But spinning it the other way if Walcott stays on his feet no fouls-no penalties.

That's not spinning it the other way.

If he stays on his feet they are still both fouls.

True but I guess thats what wins you games - those little things and thats where we may need to be clever - as long as it aint cheating.

Its not cheating because an offense was clearly committed. I dont think Walcott purposefully dived as the shove was on his back and his momentum was going forward so he had little chance of staying on his feet. Kone was shoved but he wasnt at Walcotts pace so he had more chance of staying on his feet which he did. So ill backtrack and say there was a slight difference between the two but not in terms of the offense committed.

Its akin to breaking a traffic light - one causes a crash the other didnt - the same offense of breaking a traffic light has still been committed.

Did you see the west ham game? both sending offs were ludicrous and this whole evening themselves up cliche is flimflam and that game highlights that. Tret the referee showed consistent incompetence in sending both off from either side but west spam were at a disadvantage for x minutes in which time everton scored.

Not sure how but referees need to sort out their issues.

I saw the red card incidents at WHAM on MOTD and there was a previous incident in the same game when Collins made little of a foot in the chest.
I think we need a rethink about red cards. Football is in the entertainment industry. Playing 11 against 10 is not entertaining to me.

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Mourinho: surely he WANTS to get sacked?

Is the veneer of 'The Special One' now crumbling? I for one would steer clear of him if given the opportunity to appoint.
He is a bit of a shameless rogue and is happy to do literally anything to win, plus his methods seen to leave players spent after three yaers and he leaves a whirlpool of a mess for his succesors to pick up.

Looking forward to seeing how his situation pans out (especially if he lasts up until the Manure CL tie and loses that)

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

"Asked why he axed World Cup winner Casillas for 25-year-old Antonio Adan, Mourinho said: "At the moment, for me and my coaching staff, Adan is better than Iker.""
