*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Panathinaikos OMT ***

Only because the conservatives have lost their true roots by being in a coalition with the absolute waste of spaces lib dems.
Why anyone would vote for labour after their shambolic 13 years in power is beyond me..

Best possible scenario in my opinion is a UKIP-Tory coalition. If labour was to enter power, I am seriously thinking of leaving this country.

+1, I went to school in Bush Hill Park secondary modern.

Tonight's performance / UEFA Cup

Very frustrated with the performance tonight. We went into this game with a very strong team against a very weak attacking side and we only got a draw. The most frustrating thing is we played pretty much our strongest 11 bar Sandro who was on the bench and now we've got to fly back and try and rest up for Villa who are likely to park the bus on Sunday and we'll need to be at our best so is it all really worth it? I've seen AVB's comments today about respecting the competition which is fair enough but do we really stand a chance of winning this competition once the teams drop in after the champions league group stages? I think not..

The second half performance was very poor and got me thinking, do the players really give a sh+t about this competition and hence dont give as much as they are already thinking of the game at the weekend? We should have gone on and won this game 3 or 4 nil and then rested players for sunday. Instead we choose to sit back and try and ride the game out and got sucker punched. What was the plan in the second half, AVB?

Against United we were amazing first half and then poor in the second half and in other games this season we've not seen games out so i also get the feeling we lack someone to drive the side on and use more nouse when we come under pressure..

Is it because where we are asking him to play ?

Not really, he should be happy in that role. The problem for me is that, for all Dembele's running, we don't have any control in the midfield and the ball isn't getting out into dangerous positions often enough. We have the wrong playing staff, I thought maybe Dembele would fill the hole of laying off and showing for it back, but he seems to be getting stuck on making his dribbles.

Super tough to get him off the ball, but he's failing to link with anyone at the moment.

does anyone else think Dempsey just looks a bit brick. probably a good player for fulham but not at our level

but if he can scores plenty for Fulham surely he can do the same or even better for a club like Spurs 8-[

our forward play all season has been poor.

tbh there were times tonight that when he was in possesion there was no options for him on the pass, I think he is good enough to play for anybody, I was disapointed with Tom and Lennon tonight.

Good result, away from home, against a decent sized club in a hostile atmosphere. We should have won, but nothing to set the alarm bells ringing just yet.

As someone mentioned earlier, 8 games unbeaten \o/

Re: Tonight's performance / UEFA Cup

we have put in abject performances in the league before - does that make you think we don't care about that as well ?

i know it's a poor excuse but the way Pana played in the first half probably put the players in the wrong frame of mind for the second half - the home side didn't seem to be bothered and we were coasting along in 1st gear - sometimes in these situations when the game changes pace it's not unusual to see the players struggle to get out of that comfort zone.

that is what the problem is, imv - and i expect it will be something that will be worked on over AVB's time here - i believe had the game been more competitive from the beginning it would have been to our benefit and probably would have meant we would have finished the game with the win

everybody needs a spacegoat... roasted over a spit served with a side of feta cheese and wine. seriously, 'brick omt' would've sufficed, but some of you had to take it overboard.

Think our attacking midfielders need to weigh in with some goals, defoe can not be expected with his extra work load to score like he has done in the past. The amazing Dempsey and sigguardson need to help out with some goals.

I rather Dempsey than Sig but in all honesty its choosing lesser of the two bricks. I dont understand how they are playing simply because like you say it does really feel like we are playing with 10 men. Thats a hindrance especially to someone like Defoe

Is this because I said you no like chicken badge? Come on, lets hug this one out.

I said earlier in the thread our support of the man in the ball has been shocking. There are a couple of really simple rules that allow a team like Barca to play the way they do and the first and most important, imo, is that at any time they will support each other and offer at least two and usually three short passing options. If you've got no one to pass to, how do you pass?

That was why I was so surprised (but extremely relieved/thrilled) that we won at OT despite the second-half battering we ate. Sometimes, I think that conceding the first goal provides that spark under the players' asses, which has usually worked for United's players this season, but we need to learn not to let off the gas, but to keep up the pressure and keep playing games like they're 0-0 even when we're up a goal.

Its movement that makes the pass

Thats my motto in football. Passers only look good cos the good movement. brick movement makes a great pass look ordinary whilst a simple pass can be made to look great
