New Stadium and Training Ground - Pg 104 Northumberland Park master plan

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

I don't see how they could possibly manage to tear down the old stand and build a new in just a few months.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Sorry, Haven't been following this thread much but are Bilbao goin to play in the 3/4 built stadium like us or are they going to try and build the final tier at the end of the season?

The current plans show that the pitch would be built upto around about the edge of the penalty area. So they would need to bring down the side of the current structure to enable the rest of the pitch to get done. I do not know Spanish to read on that forum but as Jordinho says, its inlikely in a 3 month period (guessing), although say they were given two away games to end the season and two to start the season you could argue that would be an extra month to do the works. It might be a question for Skyscrapper forum.

Our own predicament suggest that our 3/4 structure would be ready in 2 years. Bilbao is around 13/14 months into its works schedule.

Gonna go google translate a few items to see how they plan to get the pitch done and play on it.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Anyone else a bit miffed that we are basically losing a year in that surely the Sainsbury site and the stadium structure can be started upon at the same time. I have seen huge supermarkets go up in 6 months, alot bigger than the current version on this project.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

I assume they can do some of the ground work on the site.

I think its quite amazing after the required revisions, the Olympic stadium distraction, and the supposed unviability issues that we are not necessarily that far behind schedule. We're only a year behind the schedule where everything went right. Here is the schedule listed in the original planning application in 2009 ...

3.2 Schedule of Development

It is proposed that the scheme will be developed in phases. The phasing has been arranged so that THFC are able to continue to play at the site throughout the duration of the construction programme. The current construction programme is as follows:

  • April 2011. Demolition of buildings within northern area;
  • May 2011. Off site highway and junction improvements;
  • October 2011. Construction of the new food store;
  • August 2013 – First phase of the stadium construction (west, north and east stands); [I assume this means completion]
  • August 2013 – Demolition of existing north stand, preparation of new pitch and club move into new stadium;
  • September 2013 – Demolition of remainder of existing stadium;
  • August 2014 – Completion of new stadium; and
  • May 2016 – Completion of southern development including residential accommodation, hotel, megastore / museum and THF offices.

Clearly, there are still a few ifs but that suggests it's still possible to move into the partially built stadium in 2014 or 2015.

The supermarket is a year later, but for some reason they had two years between starting the supermarket and stadium

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Those are dates of completion if I'm not mistaken.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

tBilbao will be taking down one side of the current stadium once phase one is complete and continue playing in that stadium in a reduced capcity for one season. They plan to not play in the new structure until its complete. The oppiosite of ourselves as we will not be playing in a reduced capacity as the current stadium size of over 36k is covered by the 3 sides that will be built thus no loss of revenue.

Its interesting to note Bilbao FC may only be paying for a 1/3 of the stadium with the rest being paid for by public money, i.e Haringey council.

EDIT, reading that thread more in google translate it suggests down the line from initial planning the below and a move into the new structure.

No wonder Haringey can't afford to help us out if they're sorting out Bilbao's stadium, that's a fudging joke

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Interesting.. pricing of stadium costs

€175m Bilbao 53k
€700m Lille 50k with 25k

:-k

But anyone seen what Lille did... its abosiluty nuts. Built a mini arena underneath the pitch, one half of the pitch lifts up over the other side of the pitch to reveal a 25k basketball arena.

Don't know if its nuts or genius lol

Presumably something to do with no sponsor, no start.

They won't. They will play a season in a three quarters complete old stadium before moving into the new stadium.

1. Building the supermarket before the stadium will mean useful and substantial money coming into the club before the stadium construction costs seriously escalate. I'm sure that it's a very deliberate part of the plan.

2. I would hazard a guess that the supermarkets that you've seen built in half the time that it will take to build the NDP supermarket were built out of town, in open space. The NDP supermarket build will be far more complex as a consequence of it being in a confined space in the middle of a densely populated urban area. What's absolutely certain is that Spurs will have planned to build it as quickly as they possibly can.

Oh my GHod that is mental, and it's already built?!? Check this out http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=571021&page=167

That is so unlikely, but appears to be really real. That gives credence to my idea of building a 'fake floor' to cover the first tier of seats at Wembley, to build an Olympics size running track etc.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

yeah i have seen that Lille stadium before elsewhere, looks crazy

not sure how they plan on joining the pitch at the half way line so it doesn't interfere with play

Looks like they just move the whole the pitch, with part of it ending up underneath the stand at the end, similar to what Schalke and Vitesse do.

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

No, one half goes on top of the other half - it splits near the middle

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Lille have a weird thing with moving half the pitch.

I saw another where the whole pitch slid outside (in the US?).
