American politics

Haha....Vance is already trying to distance himself from Trump. It didn't take long, but Trump's stink won't wash off that easily.
Vance in charge would be even worse than Trump, and much more dangerous. Trump is just a narcissist, and everything he does is just done to enrich himself.
Vance on the other hand, is not only a narcissist, but also an idealist, and those are much more dangerous!

I don't think people comprehend how much of a dangerous disaster it would be if Vance was to become president!

But Vance isn't an idealist. He has no Ideals or political conviction. His political beliefs change more often than he changes his name.

I agree he would be an absolute nightmare but not because he has any set it stone beliefs. he is a total political animal who will try and say what he thinks sells best and cosy up to whoever can get his fat arse furthest up the greasy pole.

He is an idealist. He's acted like a weathervane in order to get to where he is, and can be pragmatic if it benefits him, but deep down he has clear ideas and agendas if he gets the chance to implement them.

Agree about Newsom but think that AOC is a different story (not for 2028 though) - her tour with Bernie after the '24 debacle was very positively received beyond the safe confines of NY.

I would like to see Schumer and Jeffries shifted for the reason given above about the bipartisan compromise rubbish. They either need to come out and say we are driving this forward whatever or they need to step aside.

I think you need a Jeffries in this immediate future. It's a long-game with this possibility IMO. Driving forward is massively important of course, but there is still an orange man to deal with.

El Sayed comes across as an arrogant prick to me. His behaviour towards James Matthews from Sky News was as bad as I’ve seen in any interaction between Trump and a journalist. He needs to apologise.

There's a lot more context to this exchange.
That reporter has essentially been 'posted' to 'doorstep' him with the sort of stupid wind-up questions Skuy asks. In this exchange, he doorstepped him coming out of a car, asked him about Trump's comment that he (Sayed) was 'a gift to Republicans' and then upped that ante by asking him what he thought of Trump's comment that he (Sayed) was 'full of brick'...
El-Sayed has allowed himself to get sucked into the heat of the whip, and bitten back. Cue heavily edited clips of just his response to this 'poor journalist' and bingo, fuel for republicans, etc. In fact, I'd go as far as to say there's a major agenda against him because his name is El-Sayed and he's muslim.

What he needs to be is smarter.

I agree, he should apologize, not because the door-stepper deserves it (IMO that isn't journalism it's content creation and I lament how it's become conflated with real journalism) but because he needs to control this developing narrative that he's got a bad attitude.
He's very confident, and I agree, his manner is not for everyone, however this is others trying to weaponise and cultivate a movement against him with a false rep IMO.

I don't see Vance having the level of support of Trump, he doesn't have the 12 years of being a tv boss that made so many think he could run things.

What he does have is evil Thiel behind him, and those f uckers don't throw their millions into cucks to lose. I think there has to be a very sustained reminder to the public of just flip-floppy and invertebrate Vance is.

To my untrained eye it is just more of the same. Aggressive, arrogant and belittling. Trump in Blue. Has everyone given up on media training? When I see that sort of behaviour from people in public office, it screams 'I'm in it for me'. It doesn't move them towards the important centre ground, it just leaves them looking weaker. Take the questions and use them. He totally misstepped. All a bit 'Scrappy Doo', egotistical and very 'young Andy Burnham'. I remember when he constantly shouted people down, had to be asked repeatedly to let people speak and answer questions. Maybe in America, they have all become so used to doing what the hell they like that they have fogotten how important the 'person' making the policies is. A few Obama showreels will help with the training. We have to remember these are the clowns who chose Biden to represent them.

Thiel and these other brolicharchs are far from infallible, though. I mean, Elon just set fire to half a billion dollars in this election alone. And Texas still voted blue. He is worried, and rightly so. People tend to associate wealth with smarts, but these guys are more Dr Evil than Hydra. They believe some really stupid brick and come up with macaronic ideas all the time.

Thiel's boy Vance is in a tough spot now. He needs to pivot from the unpalatable MAGA message to stand a chance in 2028, but the more he distances himself from Trump and the MAGA project, the more Trump will tear him down. Just like with Pence (the Koch's puppet) any hint of disloyalty puts you in the crosshairs. If that happens, he won't get the nomination.

From here on out, I think Trump is going to shiv loads of his sycophants for failing him in this election. Dear leader cannot fail, only be failed. They all deserve it. Let the games begin.

I wonder what the chances of AOC competing in Schumers next primary, she's likely popular enough to win his seat.

Ironically if Trump didn't start the war and had spent every day since then playing golf and done nothing they'd have had better results.

I think it just shows that right or left if you don't deliver what voters want you get punished, there's too much awareness and information out there now.

It lacks context. Yes, the edits which the likes of Sky could not wait to shove out there do not register well, but there is more to this moment. However, again, yes, your reaction is wholly understandable and exactly what his naysayers/enemies want to happen.

Trump in Blue. Has everyone given up on media training?

I think we would have to say he is one of the more inexperienced in a prominent position (less than a decade). So he certainly is susceptible to being baited, and he was. And he fell for it. I am not sure how much you have seen of him. He is certainly confident, but he was edged over a line here by frankly chip paper questions, and he allowed himself to get riled. He is not 'Trump in blue' however mate. Nobody comes close to Trump.

He did misstep. Equally, to read a man off a heavily edited out-of-context clip is perhaps not the wisest. Remember, his very name offends a lot of people still (tragic as that is to say). Honestly, that bit cannot be overstated.

Sorry, I think you're off-course here (again IMO anyway). He possibly shares some traits with Burnham, however I'll bet you that people never came at Burnham like they do this guy.

I'm not sure what your 'maybe in America, they have all become so used to doing what the hell they like they've forgotten how important the 'person' making the policies is' line refers to?

And which clowns do you mean? The Dem Party?
I think it's pretty clear that the old guard is not welcome for the future battles ahead.

Worse, they view all of this as some wildly entertaining social experiment (like those two dingdongheads Delo and Harbourne who gave multi millions to Reform UK, freely admitting that they just liked to mess with the system or some such f uckery).
Thiel is a little more worrisome for me because he actually seems to have plotted his course for sometime now. Let's see, hope you're right and he wet-farts out.

Again, I hope so, and I also hope he doesn't try to edit himself into someone who was a 'decent guy that took advice from trusted people and feels let down'...he cannot be allowed to do that in any fashion whatsoever, because the cult is still a cult.

He certainly has a plan, though I just can't see it succeeding. The bigger plan is a push for network states and technofeudalism, which has been in the wild for a while. These are crazy and dangerous notions, as are Thiel's views on longtermism and his obsession with the antichrist. These people should be kept as far away from power as possible. Hopefully this election is the turning of the tide with regards to the broligarchs.

Just as simple, as he needs some media training because he, of course, knows exactly what is coming. The comparison to Burnham was how he has adapted over time and matured. I still wouldn't trust him with a bargepole but then I have little trust for most of them. The 'In America' bit is because this sort of outburst and bheaviour has been normalised in America over the last decade with all the name calling, cries of fake news, attacks on the press etc. We see in equal measures the polarisation and division that has been created in America. Veiled questions about his name and ethnicity should be hugely beneficial, handled well but instead the response was insular and even slightly jingoistic. Yes the Dem party who gave America Biden, when they/we needed anything but Biden.
