Ingerlund

World class for sure.

On the Mount Rushmore of English players but impossible and pointless (beyond the fun of it) to say who is the GOAT. Charlton, Matthews, Banks, Keegan, Moore before you get to Finney, Lawton, Billy Wright etc all come into that conversation.

Greatest goal scorer, greatest player of the last 4 decades but the changes in balls, boots, pitches, fitness, lack of world wars etc etc ......

I think it's still a Moore, Charlton, Kane debate for some. Less so Greaves because he never made that WC final. Shilts would be in with a shout.

I genuinely think the most talented was Gazza, but I don't think he's the best. That probably is Kane at this point.

Yeh, its not disrespectful to say there are probably 5/6 who could be considered and then its a "pick em" choice.

Moore, Charlton, Keegan, Greaves, Kane in any order you want and it will be fine

The sheer number of games played now makes it impossible to compare IMO, Greaves made his impact in under 60 games for England.

It confirms my belief in the bias against Spurs, since moving to Germany Kane has become a great player to the media and pundits who were always quick to criticise him for not staying up front, never aware it would have been a complete waste of time with the England tactic of passing backwards 4/5 times before thinking of a progressive pass and never going wide and crossing first time.
Even most people who have never seen a game must have noticed how much more dangerous England look playing quick passes out wide and getting the ball in first time, the difference in the left side of the field and right last night was obvious, virtually nothing came from the left against their ageing rightback.

Finney 22 goals in 23 games.

There is always someone or something, we hear less about Shearer these days.

Give him the Ballon D’Or and he can look anyone in the eye.

Before Harry is widely accepted as our greatest ever, Bellingham will have already exceeded him.

The delay in accepting his greatness is his fault in part for missing chances and penalties particularly in WC semi finals. Should have scored against Croatia and missed a pen against France. Those are the margins.

This unfortunately will hang over Kane. Probably no different from his free kick impotency with us. Still beggars belief how a player that talented can not get one of those free kicks in. I can absolutely forgive Harry for things like missed penalties and chances in those key England games. He dug us out many other times.

My biggest regret with Harry was 2021 in the delayed COVID Euro's. He had an injury at the turn of the year but came back with us in Feb. He clearly had his head turned by that move to City and his effort levels dropped significantly for Spurs unfortunately. By the time it came to the summer, he wasn't anywhere near the fitness you want from your best England player. He had let himself get into bad habits and stunk the place out for most of those Euros. I don't remember him troubling those 2 ageing Italian centre halves once in that final. He was 28 and at his peak. If Harry had the right head on for the tournament then I think we win that final and pick up a major trophy. He simply is that good. Getting owned by Grant Hanley wasn't a good look for our Harry in the earlier tournament game.
