Not a fan of the manager dragging this out in the press tbh - should be drawing a line under it, not adding fuel to the fire.

Don't know what the crack is with other countries windows but i think the club should just pay up his contract at this point and then we can all move on from it.

It will hang around like a bad cloud until we turn things around on the pitch.

Give it a rest, they are footballers and managers, who've worked their bollox off to reach the highest (and extremely competitive) levels of kicking a ball around on a patch of grass. Not purveyors of impeccable morals and behaviour like you two obviously are.

Maybe the players that we do have might started getting a bit annoyed with a prevailing narrative that Richy is the saviour of this team, when actually they just need the time to acclimate to this system? Maybe RDZ is protecting them by saying this?

Romero - the club knew since late last season he wanted out. We can discuss reasons another time!

Spence - DeZerbi said they had a chat at the end of last season and Spence was very clear as was RDZ. Porro is a world cup winner.

Danso - probably the only player whose circumstance was similar in so much as he was a late departure. I'd guess he was much more straight-forward. As a person he always projects as very steady. A clear expression of disappointment and a willing buyer.

Richy - muddy waters all summer, manager obviously liked him and wanted a higher grade replacement, we thought we'd boost our forward line considerably in the final week or so
and it was clear if we did, we'd look to punt him out. It was odd to me that once it was clear Ndiaye's agent was going to hold out for City that we didn't still do a deal with Everton; it suggested to me that the club and Richy would elect to get on with it until Jan and try again. Instead the whole thing got played out in public.

The first comments on Richy came from
RDZ saying Richy was indecisive on his plans. He said it twice. It was a line taken. That caused the reaction IMO.

It was all unnecessary IMO and came as a result of lack of clarity on the player's situation.
Quite why people are upset that the player defended himself is beyond me. The whole thing is messy, there are no heroes or villains here, albeit I think the ultimate responsibility to manage this situation lay with the club and they decided to do what they have done.

Maybe RDZ went public on Richy’s indecisiveness because it was that exact sort of unseriousness which frustrated him and the club, and hampered their ability to do business with him earlier? And maybe that was why he was brought onto the tour? And why we let Lankshear go?

I think a lot of the criticism of the club comes from the idea that it was ok for Richy to be constantly changing his mind, and for the big assumption that there was something obvious we could have done to make the Everton move go through, even though the player took to social media to explain that he wasn’t going to be pushed around in the market anymore.

Like…maybe Richy was actually indecisive and maybe that is actually a real issue? Bergval said he wanted to go, and was convinced to stay. Maybe Richy said he wanted to go, then stay, and then wanted to go again. And maybe that’s just one too many turns around for the club to be comfortable dealing with.

You may be right that we sort of viewed Richy as a ‘we like you but if someone better comes along we’ll sell you’ but that cuts against the fact that we asked him to extend his contract supposedly. I think if we asked for his commitment and he gave it, I’d be shocked if we then sold him for anything that wasn’t a too good to turn down offer.

I think the club just found the constant changing of his mind unacceptable and probably unprofessional. And then taking to social media to speak out about a deal they facilitated for him to a club he loves, after he’d asked to go, to be absolutely unprofessional. It’s the kind of crap Romero was doing and was part of the reason we were not a serious club for the last few years.

I also note that tonight Vasco came out and said that it was very much Richy choosing not to complete the deal. He just seems like a petulant kid to me. Wanted everything his way, didn’t understand the reality of the situation, and is now suffering more than anyone because of his own outbursts and bad decision making.

I can see a world where RDZ wants to nip these sorts of questions in the bud as otherwise he’s going to get asked about it every week. He’s clearly not yielding, and I don’t think he could yield even if he wanted to as the registration window is closed. I think the point he’s making around it not being all gravy when Richy was in the side is a fair one, when he’s trying to boost the confidence and belief of the players that will be out there playing.

Richie didn’t play Brentford on his own, so he’s already called out a few more, and they will all know who they are.

I think he should stop engaging on this subject in press conferences.

Sure, but the point RDZ was making was that even when him playing, it was our worst performance. I think he’ll stop engaging when he stops getting asked, but if he gets asked, he’s going to go to bat for the players that are registered and working to put it all together on the pitch.

I don’t think the Brentford performance was Richy’s fault at all. It was bad all over. But we can see that good managers are taking time to get their team’s firing, with Chelsea as well. They have as bad a defensive record as we do in attack right now. I think it’s all going to settle down for both sides once it clicks for us both. The coaches and the quality of the players are too good for it not too. Iraola went a long time before winning with Bournemouth when we joined, and went 11 games without a win last season. Still did an incredible job.

With all of that in mind, I think we’re going to be ok. And I think Richy is going to be a footnote in the season. We just need our system to click, for the players to be more comfortable, more patient, just lighter in attack. We don’t need Richy for that to happen,
