Guglielmo Vicario

Is it the case with this one that we don't want to sell him whilst his stock in the PL is so low? So we put him to work with a loan fee and then let him build his stock back up in Serie A.

Think we (him included) made a decision re his lack of future here, and it's just finding a home for him.

It has little to do with his stock, the market for keepers who expect to start isn't big, Martinez has been trying to leave Villa for at least two seasons now.

Juve is taking advantage, if he works out, they are sorted, if he doesn't couple other keepers available on free at end of next season to choose from.

I think it means that the loan fee is undisclosed, and the buy-option is €8m plus some add-ons potentially worth €2m. But it's cryptic.

Yep, the younger Friedel was a superb keeper. Pool were having meltdowns getting rid of guys like him and David James in their prime.

As for 2002, all we needed was a referee. Mark Hughes could have walked 4 times in that game. The refereeing was a disgrace, as it often is in these showcase finals, especially with the old pro's.

Were we even in the running for Brad first time around?

The only cup final I’ve attended that we lost.

Not sure if we were linked with him but both Americans coming in on cheap deals as #2 had we picked Friedel instead would have been a stroke of luck as he was consistently a top 5 keeper for 10+ years.

Good move for Vic and hope he shows his worth at Juve.

Don't understand the stick he gets from our fans. A fantastic shot stopper and Europa League winner but has some flaws as all keepers (and players) do...mostly just not the right type of keeper for De Zerbi-ball.

Thanks for the memories Vic.

As I understand Jennings is Tottenhams greatest every Goalkeeper and was considered one of the best in the world. Followed by Clemence & Lloris.

I had a Spurs Greatest XI VHS as a kid where Terry Venables picked the team. He chose Ted Ditchburn over Jennings and I can remember the narrator saying nobody else would think that lol.

I went to a goalkeeper camp ran by Jennings and his son Patrick who was the youth team keeper for Spurs at the time. They got me a trial at Spurs who passed on me but also Milwall and they took me on for a period.

I would say only Walker was worse as a long term #1.

Keller would make some unreal saves but was prone to a howler and couldn’t kick. Basically a second rate Gomes.
Neil Sullivan was the worst first choice in the premier league years, he was absolutely awful.

How old are you out of interest?

Don’t agree with that at all. Sullivan against Arsenal in the 2001 Semi Final was exceptional. Also kept us in the game 1st leg against Chelsea in 2002.
A handful of isolated matches, what I mostly remember of him is letting any kind of half decent low shot squirm under or through his body like a slow motion car wrecks.

They year we made the CL places, he was unstoppable, not seen the likes of it live so often. I was at PSV when he broke our hearts in Europe too, he was like a wall
I had to give him MOTM that day as a guess of Philips
Have a guess what the prize was
A Philipshave
I was the spurs fan sat in the chairman’s box wearing a spurs scarf

I’m not surprised, writing was on the wall, but I think he’s the best keeper we have and I’m disappointed this is happening.
