Of course he deserves blame, he managed Spurs, what do you expect from "The Islington Guardian"

He will be gone, Americans are worse than Spurs fans for ego and expectations, even in "Soccer" he barely mad it to the WC with them on his back.

I did feel for him having to be there the same time and Trump, impossible task to manage IMO
 
A sad ending to some very good work indeed.
I genuinely don't think any squad or manager could've dealt with that outrageous brickshow that flooded them and the game itself prior to KO. I mean, from being a side that was doing a fairly good job of side-stepping the political flimflam thrust on them as host nation, they ended up being drenched in a despicable action and carrying the brickcan of Ire (c) for a multitude of sins. Of course he cannot say that, neither can the players, they'd get deported or something!!!! As for Balogun, he will forever be tainted with this and it is absolutely not his fault whatsoever. A really, really good player. I hope his career does not suffer...

I can't help but think a lot of people who were desperate for the WC to fail so they could they bitch at trump have had their prays answered.
Until the Paraguay v France game it was a success, but that was fairly minor thankfully with no long term negatives, but the Trump intervention has soured it.
Personally I think it's a huge shame, it's been one of the better international tournaments for ages, it could have done wonders for football, now it will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
Politics and sport should not mix.

I think the test of where Poch is in our affections will be tested again if and when results turn under RDZ. RDZ has deservedly put a lot of credit in the bank and is fresh and exciting so there is no need for us to long for Poch right now. It’s similar to when things were going well under Ange - no one was calling for Poch.

I’m a bit tinkled at Poch for how he handled the last few days but I was tinkled at him for joining Chelsea and got over it.

The bolded part is interesting. He was often too slow to make substitutions when he was our manager. I remember him saying in his book that every substitution has emotional consequences, but that always came across as a pretty weak justification to me. If things aren't going to plan, you have to make changes at the right moments. That's one of the main reasons you have a squad in the first place.

I agree to a point, but the decision to boycott South Africa was the right thing to do even though it took a long time to undermine Apartheid.

I'm not convinced that the boycotts did any good.
They were morally the correct action to take, don't think they made an iota of difference.
