Nerve-Wrecking Moments

So, those last 10 minutes stoppage time got me thinking.

With regards to football, was that possibly the most nervous few minutes any of us have endured in recent memory.

For me that added time was probably the worst of all. My memory could well have blanked a few out, but I have listed my worst 5 gut-wrenching, nervous, stomach-churning last few minutes of a Spurs game.

1/ Sunday afternoons final 9 (and then 11) minutes stoppage time
2/ Last final minutes of the Europe League Final in Bilbao
3/ Added time at the Etihad after Crouchy had put us 1-0 up
4/ Those last few seconds after Moura scored his 3rd v Ajax
5/ Seem to remember being a bag of nerves at the end of the 1981 Cup FInal replay

There are probably many more.

Feel free to add

The 81 replay as you said, plus the final what? 6 mins of the 2008 final and obviously last year. But for me, Sunday eclipsed them all. Felt like there was more riding on it

77/78 season when we were pushing to get back to Div one, we really looked like we were going to storm back to the Div one for most of the season. Then the jitters set in and we only won 2 of our last 8 games. we nearly threw it away by doing so and we had to get a result in our last game of the season away to Southampton.

We ended up with a o-o draw and ended up in 3rd place and went up on goal difference over Brighton. Never been at a more nail biting game and felt like being sick all the way to the final whistle. :weary:

Yes, for some reason I dont remember listening to that game, was it on the radio back in the day?

No idea to be honest as i was at the game.

I was a bit too young back in them days, but I did manage to talk my mum to taking me to Mansfield for the 3-3 draw, her and Nan wnet shopping while I paid on the gate (them were the days)

That was the only 2nd Division game I ever went to
