***Tottenham Hotspur VS Liverpool - Official OMT***

this. and everything else you've said. was just 2% in favour to liverpool and we showed them better passing possesion game.

modric , parker, livermore and niko all played well IMO.

genuine question, how is it that niko hasnt been playing more often?

In a word (IMO) - VDV (and the fact that if fit he plays).

You may recall a while ago where we had a big debate on the 451/442 wonky merits.

VDV was injured, and I wanted Kranjcar to play in his stead without changing the team set up.

This is because Kranjcar brings to us the same as VDV, look at last night

Late runs to the edge of the box
Drifting deep and wide to find the ball
Ghosting into spaces between opposing midfield and defence
Coming into midfield to knit play together
Releasing the ball forward as much as possible.

THAT ball to Bale was sensational (with the outside of the right boot no less), had VDV made that pass no one would be surprised but everyone would be creaming themselves about it.

IMHO, VDV is keeping Kranjcar out of the side - they are to similar to play together

in the first half we were patient in our build up play, however once we got to the final third there was no movement from Ade or the midfielder supporting him, so the player in possession had no chance to play a decent creative ball inside the gaps between Liverpool defenders

i wonder if in training they work on a pattern of play when we have the ball in the final third, the strikers/attacking midfielders spinning off the defenders and running into space in between the opposition. They always look so passive. Its been like this a while

After a poster states how good Saudi Sportswashing Machine are doing you post a reply stating:

"Lets be honest, despite the great start I dont think many thought they would be in this position come Feb."

and that's your way of "admitting you got it wrong" hahahahaha man you're a funny guy. Incredible stuff really.

Honestly mate, this is exactly my problem (not you in particular, but the volume of people who share this idea) - why should we have got spanked?

Havent you noticed just how good we are these days?

Stop with the small time thinking! We arent manged by Jol now!

no i just meant due to the fog, due to no manager, due to us having no players and it being a night game at Anfield. I just thought a 3-0 whitewash thats all. I know we are made of steel now but I just had the same old spurs thoughts in my mind. sorry!

I genuinenly thought you had a much better understanding of football in general

Not a single neutral fan out there would agree we matched them in midfield, possession, blow by blow, and had them pressed, etc. It was cringeworthy to watch us pinned at times for 10 minutes absorning cross after cross and looking like we couldn't buy a goal. If that is your idea of matching them, I'd rather not discuss any further.

The fact at least 15-20 odd users amogst other threads have shared similar concerns over our performance tells me you either didn't watcht the game thoroughly or simply have a very different understand of the game overall

Don't engage me on this again, please.

Classic, abuse someones understanding of the game then expect them not to retort.

Genuinely I do believe a late rear guard action on our part has coloured your view of the entire game.

The majority of the game took place just inside our half. I do not believe this was because we are somehow inferior, but that it was a tactical decision (given our lack of attacking resource)

Do not mistake the ball being in our half with us defending.

Liverpool did indeed attack more than us, I havent argued otherwise, but we also attacked ourselves.

For fair periods of the game it was end to end kind of stuff, they had a go, we had a go. This idea that they pinned us back for 90 minutes is complete hogwash.

As we were starting attacks 10-20 yards deeper than usual, and as we lacked two of our main attacking outlets we didnt make clear chances (save for a couple). That is not to say we didnt attack, make them defend and have our say in the contest.

Many times we bore down on their defence to get snuffed out, just as we did have te ball in their box plenty - just without meaningful or telling contribution at that point.

We were clearly below par and feeling the effects of our missing comrades.

Even so, Liverpool were full strength and supposedly a force to be reckoned with. At home. And only once in the game 'should' they have scored. All else was huffing and puffing our defence completely matched their attack.

Statistically we enjoyed 48% of the possession, which is certainly enough to counter most of your early claims.

The idea of using the 60/30% split to counter is a red herring, that will convey tactics only - not domination/possession/intent.

I point you to the Arsenal game at the lane in which Harry recorded our first league win in ages. I believe Arsenal ended up with something like 60% possession and yet were never likely to win the game, there was a clear tactical decision to let them enjoy possession, push them wide and then take advantage of the space it provided.

Clearly if you believe a game played on the edge of our half is a game we struggled in it is not my understanding that should be questioned, and on that basis I am happy to now leave it.

Please dont engage me on this again.

False again young 'princess' padawan.
First of all you stated they wouldn't be anywhere near the "top 6" after their fixtures. Your original statement was top 4 but then it was "top 6 after the fixtures".
Also you didn't simply make a point to say you were wrong. That's what normal decent people do. What you did is state that not many would have thought they would do well. That;s not you saying you're wrong, that's you trying to group people together as if it was some sort of justification as to why you had got it wrong (because most get it wrong so it's ok). If you would have said "yep got it wrong" i wouldn't have said anything but nah you said "most wouldn't have predicted it" so please stop twisting it as if it was your way of saying you were wrong.

As for your "grown ups don't drag up predictions" crap...what utter steaming gonad*s. We're all on a football forum where we discuss things and lots of posters get pulled up for a wrong prediction (especially when they're so so confident and even make a point to state something in their favour everytime or everyweek where it looks like they're prediction is coming off) you made a point to state how brick they play after most bad performances so naturally i'll pull you up on your false prediction when it looks like you're wrong. That's a natural thing that's been done to many posters so stop crying about it, dry your eyes, take a deep breath, man up, and quit with the baiting if you're above that level.

Thank you once again KD, you are proving to be great value today, example after example of your ignorance.

I didnt twist anything, in the context of the conversation I posted that not many would have predicted their current status. Not many did, I was one of them, and I wasnt trying to cover my tracks at all. It was an admission I got one wrong, it wasnt an attempt at anything else. You saw something that simply wasnt there and then tried to be clever responding to it - double fail, princess.

I dont recall ever posting "something in my favour everytime it looks like my prediction is coming off". I do recall making points relating to a consistent opinion when it comes up in debate/conversation.

Ironically the point you use as an example doesnt even relate to my supposed prediction.

They dont play good football, they are getting better, but I stand by my assessment of their earlier style (with the introduction of Ben Arfa it is getting better - oh look at that, big enough to admit to changing an opinion, I wonder how this one might be twisted?) It was very defensive, very dour and very long ball.

You are trying to wage a war all by yourself, its hilarious.

If you werent acting like such a bitch yesterday I wouldnt have been snippy this morning, and since then you have just been priceless.

=D>

Great post.

So sick of people whos view of the game is based on their dissapointment of the result. Had Bale scored at the end, it would have been the "perfect" game, where we soaked it up patiently before hitting them on the break late on.

Laughable.

You have to have your own mind young padawan. Don't just do things because i do it, do it because that's what you want to do it (oh and pointing out you got a prediction wrong is totally different then making a sarcastic post designed simply to get a reaction...but whatever).

The quote i posted wasn't an example of your prediction, it was the quote that your deceitful self claimed was you "admitting you got it wrong". Anyone with half a brain can see it clearly wasn't "you admitting you got it wrong" but whatever keep convincing yourself otherwise.

Ah good you recall "making points relating to a consistent opinion when it comes up in debate", how very nice of you. So why exactly are you taking the fact that i pointed out your prediction was wrong like a little girl? you can continuously make points "relating to a consistent opinion" but when your point is proven wrong you get mad that it's pointed out? eh? don't make the point/prediction then if you're going to cry and bitch when it's pointed out that you're wrong and enough with this nonsence notion that pulling someone on their wrong prediction is something "grown ups don't do". We're talking on a football messageboard ffs. Deary me.

I watched the game at a mates on Sky.

That was one of the best and solid away displays I have seen from Spurs in recent years.

Well played to all.
Special mentions to Parker (The Wall=D>), Walker and Krancjar - who though he'd tackle like that on a cold night oop north??=D>=D>

Well played Spurs=D>

Oh and i also don't get why you're bitching about how long ago the prediction was made (as if it shouldn't be brought up because it was months ago or "last year" as you put it). I seem to remember GB making a prediction about us getting relegated a few seasons back and people still talk about it today ffs. You got it wrong, date doesn't matter, time doesn't matter, doesn't matter about "grown ups don't bring it up" etc etc make every excuse under the sun but please man in future don't make another prediction if this is the after effect.

Liverpool had more chances than us, as I mentioned - always helps to watch the game again with a clear mind

When you see us hoofing at the back, not being able to put a single forward pass for minutes then you'd see what I mean. Not once did Liverpool did that all game or we had them under pressure at the back apart from Bale's 1v1

What? All Liverpool did was launch long balls up to Carroll. They are Stoke, with more money. We were poor by our standards, and reverted to long ball too much for my liking, but we did not play anywhere near as direct as them.

As for chances, they had the Carroll chance, and the Suarez chance but apart from that all their shots were from range. We had the Bale one on one, and another chance for Bale in the second half and had one long shot. If their two extra long range shots are what you mean by more chances then fair enough, but we had the clearest chance and the third clearest chance. Yes they put pressure on us, but never really threatened. A draw was a fair result, they had marginally more possession and looked marginally more threatening than us, but not enough so as to deserve more than the point they got.

Also can I defend Adebayor - some threads are saying he was 'disinterested' - WALOB!!!

He often was VERY isolated and when he had a chance of getting the ball he had 2/3 defenders closing him down. In fact a few times he held them off and tried to find space to lay off to a Spurs player. He found it harder in the second ha;lf to do this (perhaps fitness/injury problem) but granted if VDV or even Lennon (with his pace and ability to join the attack) was available we might have seen more friut from his efforts. To suggest he wasn't bothered is a complete joke imo.

Imagine if that was Crouch having to do that yesterday? Or Pav?

Some people need to get a grip and show more appreciation for what work Ade often does (shooting boots on or not).

can we all get on nicely please and kiss and make up. We all say things in the heat of it all but we are Yids and should all love each other equally. some have different opinions, some have silly opinions but we should try and respect said opinions no matter how silly they are by simply saying "I dont agree with you mate, but you are entitled to your opinion."

now I know this is a very gay message but all I see on here is people caning each other, I have done this recently and it made me feel down as I hate not getting on with people.

Lets all try and be proper Yids and get on with each other eh. Obviously I am taking the pi55 a little bit as Im not normally this gay (no offence to gay people) but I dont like it when people arent getting on.

take care of yourself....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand each other.

GGG

well - I've seen some mindless and woefully inaccurate analysis on this board before, but this bilge takes some beating. Its so wrong I can't be arsed to bother with it. 1/10 - the Friedel comment saved you getting nothing.

Well - I've seen some mindless and know-it-all trolling on this board before, but this patronising drivel takes some beating. It's so enlightening that I can't be arsed to comment how deeply it hurts my soul. Ok, I care about 1/10 - the point you gave me saved me from not caring at all.

Adebayor just got absolutely zero support. I remember we got a freekick in their half and we had three people against 10 scouse. The system was at fault and it seemed that Bond didn't have the balls to tamper with it in Harry's absence. Hats off to the defensive performance though

What? All Liverpool did was launch long balls up to Carroll. They are Stoke, with more money. We were poor by our standards, and reverted to long ball too much for my liking, but we did not play anywhere near as direct as them.

The point I made is - we were hoofing away at the back being under pressure for most the game. Their long balls to Carroll were attacking passes not defensive blocks. I can recall Parker along stopping at least 5 attacks from our left after BAE was beaten yet again.

The original point was focused around the (outrageous in my view) claim of us matching their possession and being better in midfield. This has been now lost via side arguments so little left to argue

Don't know what was so wrong with what subzero said? Other than I thought Ade was rubbish.

Ade was mostly isolated amongst other things - only Bale dared to venture into their half at times. He was often against 3-4 of their thug cloggers and was easily dealt with. Looked a little tired too
