That’s what Frank is talking like
We have better players than some think and players that aren’t as good as the hype too
I don’t think we’re maximising the squad at all yet the team is constantly changed

The point being that given who we have lost out we need to make up their contribution, Ange did it with Kane loss but did it with 3/4 of the below, we don't even have those 3 or Solanke. I am not giving Frank a pass for everything, but the below is a massive loss towards our attacking intent, no matter how its dressed up

I don't think we are anywhere the top club that people make out we are, as I say our squad is 7th/8th best in the league, thats exactly where we are trending

They made a change because of us. That's the point. Teams make changes because of the opposition all the time, including the likes of Arsenal, Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool etc.
Obviously changes over time have to be balanced out by having a set way of playing 60%+ of the time. Easier to do that if you have had time and have a good chuck of what you need to play your way.

They also had a go at chelsea and there are a lot of new players there who are unfamiliar with the manager

It’s key to see the guy in change maximise what he has and if that results in a loss then hey, that happens

His post match comments IMO were not that of a manager who understands the expectations of a supposed top club

Out of intererst on this last bit, what did Frank say that makes you believe that?
And can you provide quotes from any of our last few managers after a defeat that you felt conveyed the opposite of what you think Frank's did yesterday?

Well Chelsea and United were missing players
Chelsea have been missing their one top attacker
United started with no striker again and ended with 10 men
Most teams lang the same way repeatedly
We did vs United and Chelsea
Same set up. 2 DMs IIRC and no passing

Love the guy, but he was on the decline in a very tough PL.

When I think about it more, our biggest strength should be the collective of attackers keeping the intensity going for 95 mins in every match. That was what was missing with Ange because he lost Odobert and Richi early season and then had to overuse the others. That made the Sonny thing worse.

Frank has 6-8 attacking players in every match. What he hasn't had yet attacking intent from central areas in the middle third positions. I still think Dom and Deki will be difference but they will take time to get to their prior levels.

Sunderland have Xhaka, he is better than anything we can offer in terms of progressive play and passing from midfield. The structure matters, the players matter, the attributes of the players matters more than anything. Put Xhaka in this team under Frank and the quality of the passing ramps up immensely.

But playing 8 defensive players lead to a brick show in defence, we do know that

We finished 17th with a EL win,

We are 9th navigating a tougher CL campaign with an injury list that compares and or is worse than that run in.

Why are people so hurt by the facts?

I think you are really massively overrating what is available in this squad, sorry, but that seems so glaring to me. AND to be clear, I would be saying that about any manager with this on their plate so soon into their tenure (not at the end of two years before people make that boring claim)

This is what we were last season. We actually need to prove that we're not that.

Bleep me, that is worrying...

Edit, that's a sign of a guy under big pressure AND feeling it and it seeping out..

We can only hope this is that moment, where he says 'bleep it' let's go for it,nothing to lose at this point etc etc.

We will see in our next two games. That has the chance to chance the feeling before we go to St James Park.
