OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco ** 22/10/25.

One thing is results. The other is the system, the positioning and the instructions that we can see plainly in front of our eyes. If Frank wanted to play a different game in possession right now he could, he doesn’t need 1 year or 6 years. Whether it would be as successful without the money Arsenal have spent is obviously a different story, but he could make different choices right now.

I’d love to have a clear explanation from him on unpacking why he’s doing what he’s doing now, if the intention is to do something else in the future. I’ve offered speculation on why I think it is, but I’d love to hear from him. It doesn’t change the fact of what we are seeing right now though. It’s not as if something is going to click which makes the intended style suddenly look wildly different,

And i think given the time and money spent AND lack of trophies, it puts into perspective where we are and how far too early this is to make any assumptions on Frank.

It's so so so early to be making any long term calls, I suspect it's those that didn't want him and wanting managers from Super clubs who are going early
Problem is that managers don't get anything like 6 years at Spurs (though I appreciate under the new decision makers that could change).

If he is going to double-down on this style of play (fast, direct via wide areas with lots of crosses and little progression/development through the middle of the pitch) then he is going to need better players in key areas. I think there's an interesting use of the word 'dynamic' here, because I think he does want us to be dynamic in wide areas; but is he interested in verve and dynamism via a passing game? Flowing, passing football through the middle too? I don't think so. But I also agree that to come to any conclusions on anything right now would be absolute madness, and that May will tell us a lot more.

My feelings as well, we have to see the season through before any real decision should/has to be made about [ yet again] changing managers. I despair sometimes about the culture we have about changing managers every couple of years.

Think we're at a point, or past it possibly, where we need to give Frank two years as intelligent potential managers will be being put off by the amount of managerial churn at the club.

I sure hope this isn't the style he's going to double down on into the future. And that dynamic isn't just for what individuals do in wide areas.

Fully agreed that it's way too early to conclude on anything and he needs time. But it's also on him to show what he can do to change and improve things, as difficult as that may be.

Whatever the plan is for the future this is seemingly what we've been working towards so far. Defending and set pieces being the absolute strongest focus, playing with little to no risk in central areas. It's all a bit Mourinho so far. He needs to show that he also can do more than that at some point.

But other than the long throw from danso our set pieces have went to brick.

They barely get 6 months with this fan base, unfortunately nothing will change on that front..

This has been discussed many times. It’s not the fans that sack the managers. It was the club. Even with Ange languishing down near the bottom of the table fans weren’t calling for his head. We may not have patient fans but we certainly don’t/didn’t have a patient chairman.

How the fudge do you keep posting this nonsense. Did you spend more than 2 fudging minutes on this forum from December - June last season?

Have no idea what you’re on about or why you’re perpetually so angry. I can only assume you’re conflating the criticism Ange got on here to what was happening in real life at the games. Yes there was the odd angry fans confronting Ange in the stands as Ange walked off after the game but Levy was the one getting the brunt of the flak and was the case for about 2-3 years. The fans aren’t the ones who sacked Jose before a cup final or Conte when 4th was still in touching distance just in recent memory.

Which of these is more true?

@tommysvr was one of the many who backed Ange until the end

@tommysvr was one of the few who backed Ange until the end

On a forum with circa 200 people posting regularly compared to 60,000 regulars to attended home games every 2 weeks. There really wasn’t some anti-Ange movement in real life. If anything, the fans who attended games were remarkably patient given the wretched league form for 18 months. Levy was the one who the fans were protesting against.

So you’re telling me that fans in general wanted Ange to stay?

We aren't a "very good" side. We are ok and undergoing development to become better but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Calling us very good only creates the expectation that we should be performing at a significantly better level than we currently are.

If Monaco are 'a very good side' then so are we, absolutely. Man for man it is a match-up which actually sees us generally have more quality. So in that context, yes we are.

I DO agree with you that we are a developing squad with a lot of youth heading to bloom, so in Premiership terms we're currently sitting at about our 'right' position. I do think we could be getting more from our current results if we had a little more option/creative approach to our work.I would accept that injuries are a factor, absolutely, but again, we end up back at how theses players (if fit) would be used by Frank.

Back to that last sentence, bold-faced above...I absolutely think we should be expecting better performances than we're getting. 100%. We have the players, albeit I think we'd all agree we need more top quality in depth.

Conte sacked himself (but yes, it wasn't the fans).
