Inevitable really. Emotional both ways but ultimately the right decision i think.
How right it is will depend on a) where Ange next gets a job, b) how soon that job comes and c) how long before we get back to the levels we saw between 2016 and 2018

Thanks for Bilbao Ange

You’re getting carried away with those dizzy height memories. 7th was as high as we finished in the PL before Martin Jol. Think it was Gerry the Mullet in 95 or 96. We were known for not having ever finished top 6 or bottom 6 until 2006. BMJ broke that ceiling and we stayed there for 20 years almost. Ange broke the floor…hope that isn’t a sign we’ll be marooned in relegation scraps for the next two decades. I don’t want to be Everton.
I think my brain remembered my teenage playground argument - we finished on the same points as 6th twice, so that's "joint sixth" :p

Absolute tossers that run the club I have supported all my life.

Thanks Ange for giving me one of the very few brilliant moments in the last quarter that I have experienced following my club. Good luck in your next job.

Lets see whether this manager search is any less farcical than the last few.
Id say zero chance there isnt an appointment tomorrow, even tonight.

We'll have been working on it for at least 6 months.

Probably Frank, but im still hoping we'll wow everyone with Poch or Xavi.

Depends on who we get and which players end up staying or leaving. If we get someone like Thomas Frank, whose greatest achievement is simply existing with Brentford, then 10th-14th may be a reality regardless of this move.
The risk is still there, for sure.
Ange's results strongly indicated that's what he was more likely to achieve next season than not.

We got 10 mil for winning the Europa. If we’d finished 6 places higher in the league we would’ve have got more than we did for winning in Bilbao. This is what it boils down to with the board. No ambition just financial aims

‘sexy’ wasn’t a thing before Levy
We've finished 17th in the table - if the club want to challenge again moving forwards then making a change is this first step to doing so.

Season 3 is cancelled then, or at least the show is going a different direction with a new director brought in.

Obviously they're professionals but I am concerned about the players' reaction to this. The reward for their journey to the europa league has been the boss getting let go despite achieving the boring objective (CL football) and the meaningful one (an actual trophy).

Colour me underwhelmed if it's Bournemouth chap or Frank but I'll keep an open mind once I'm over what feels like a bit of a gut punch.

Cheers Ange, nice one mate, do a Conte and take it to the next level in your next endeavour.

Please not Frank.

Poch - always. Xavi - eh. He didn't do too bad a job at Barcelona, but I have some concerns with him and his inflexibility.

Want to bet on it?

Agree or disagree with firing Ange, the major factor is how badly he underachieved in the league, in the last 21 years, we finished lower than 9th once, and that was 11th in the Ramos year, Ange finished 6 places below that outlier result.

There is nothing in 21+ years that says basically any squad/manager can't achieve top 6-8 with what the club will provide.

I'm sad because IF Ange was prepared to employ the best coaches under him, and let them organise the structure, while he just acted as a kind of motivator, it might have been great. But maybe he thinks there were no issues to address...
