Bassong's time at the club is a strange one and typical if I may say so of Harry's scatter gun transfer policy. Played for Saudi Sportswashing Machine so fitted into HR's scouting network. We paid £8 million for him but never really fancied him, loaned him now we've sold him before really giving him a chance. Probably at a loss as I can't imagine Norwich paying 8m + for him.
we bought him as a backup, but 8M for a backup..........:-k

Sorry guys but we wont be spending £30m plus on a striker. Levy just wont do that. He likes paying £16m for a player that will make closer to £30m when selling him 3/4 years later.

this means no Llorente and no Damiao. Ade in. I reckon that is it. All these ITK's can do one.

Suppose he would want out ASAP wouldn't he.

Definitely, and would probably suit us too to recoup some money if we'd just spent a load on a striker.

Plus AVB mentioned the other day when talking about Kane that its best to have a young hungry striker as the 3rd choice option....

Sebastien bassong @BassongOfficiel

Big up to all my spurs boys@Aaron7Lennon @Sheyiadebayor @TomHuddlestone6 @YounsKabs4 @Jan_Vertonghen @29_JL @IAmJermainDefoe @kyle28walker

ITK?

Understood mate, and admittedly I only saw the pre-seasons on telly in various places, but to be fair, he looked absolutely MASSIVE to me when I first saw him, in fact, I thought a fat Cameron Jerome was being given a run-out!

On a related tangent, I think fitness and a bit of pace/sharpness/nimbility (???) is a prerequisite of AVB's, and the second he came in, my mate Jonny and I said we felt that very sadly, Daws would not fit into what he likes to do. To me THAT'S a sad sad thing, especially as Daws is the club skipper AND the diplomatic face of the club with UA, but truth be told, I do not see anyone at Utd or City who are Daws-ish. I love his spirit and love his vibe, but if we can play the ball out of defense with skill and accuracy via Verts and Kaboul, or a.n.other, I will be delighted. PERSONALLY, I would keep him in the squad as there are times and moments where you need a 'Daws' (like Barca have Puyol) except Daws isn't Puyol!!!!! I have to say, I feel very very positive about where this squad could end up BUT (and it is a massive 'but') they need to work together, want to win together and play to instruction. It's a very continental way of acting and I sincerely hope we're up to the task...ironically, not finishing third last season absolutely cost us Edin Hazard, and he is absolutely the sort of player who would thrive under AVB IMHO. I only hope that perhaps AVB can unlock Dos Santos as a Spurs player...time will tell old friend, time will tell...

Really really hoping we pull a rabbit from the striking hat along the lines of Lewandowski (dreaming I'm sure) as well as Ade...still cannot help but wonder if we are looking at Berbatov, even though his, er, 'pace' and 'pressing game' (I'm being ironic just in case anyone wonders) don't suit AVB's way of doing things...

Did you see the pic from a couple of days back from training? last week maybe? looked really, really trim - properly slim.

One who started 25 games in the league, the same as Dawson, more than King.

More than Modric and Bale as well. Only Huddlestone, Gomes, Palacios, Corluka, Defoe and BAE started more league games than Bassong in 2009-10.

Its a shame that he couldn't follow up a promising start. I'm not saying he should have started but he could have been a valuable squad member as backup LCB.

I want to thank Saudi Sportswashing Machine for our worst pieces of deadwood

Jenas and Bassong. Footballer is too kind of a word for them..
Oh it goes back a lot further than that. Ruel Fox mate. Ruel Fox.....

Should've reported Saudi Sportswashing Machine FC to Trading Standards for supposedly selling us a winger.

(I actually thought Bassong was OK for a while - :tumbleweed: )

Steff, Can't say I feel positive at the moment, I do trust Levy but we are taking too long to close transfers which is costing us on the pitch. Now it looks like one of my favourite players may be leaving so we can just have ball playing defenders? We're not Arsenal all tippy tappy and no heart. We do need to have variety. Will be gutted if Daws goes.
