Bryan Gil

Dragging this thread up from page 4.
What is/was wrong with him, and when is he back?

In case you've forgotten his playing style:
Busy, left foot only, jinky, aware, not fast, marathon distances, can cross, prefers to jink and pass low.

He is back in training, so I would hope soon.

Some talk that he could make the bench this weekend, but might be too soon.

He had an op on a groin injury.

To be honest. That video does not make him look amazing. He steals a goal on the line, goes over a lot still. And none of his crosses pick out a man. But he does get to the by line a lot and we need that. And his energy is good and he is still young. so have hopes for him under Ange.

Sure, he's only 22 and I am highlighting his skills to demonstrate his potential.

In a well-drilled team, Gil might have to get to the byline and cross towards the penalty spot. He looks like he has the tools for it.

As for context, I don’t think we can afford to buy anyone until we sell, so Gil will do well to cover for Solomon.

Energy, movement. Can go past a player with relative ease. Good combination player. Not a ton of end product, but other than that he seems like a good fit for this system. Bit lightweight perhaps, but I don't think that's as much of an issue under Ange.

Is he fit enough for selection this week? Seems to have been in the training photos for a couple of weeks now. With Solomon, Johnson, Perisic all out and son struggling it would be an ideal time for him to rock up.

Seems like he should be on the bench at least. I have doubts that he's ready to start after the injury and quite a while since he started a competitive game.

It’ll be Richi - Son - Kulu. With Veliz and Gill on the bench I’d imagine.

Son had quite a bad limp after the Liverpool match, which he was carrying from the week before against Arsenal. With a 2 week break ahead, I reckon he'll not be risked for Luton.

I was thinking that at the start of the week, but Ange confirmed in the presser today there were no issues with Son or Maddison. Son’s trained normally the last couple of days and Maddison normally all week.

This is great news. I would like to see Gil make an appearance from the bench if he's fully fit and ready, just to see what he can show after some time away from the club.
