Rodrigo Bentancur

Yeah I was seething about it on Sunday and still am now. It was a fudging dreadful challenge, worse in intent than a lot of the studs up ones that get reds now, but don’t think it is a red card and would be very hard to make a red card. You can’t penalise intent because you never know what’s going through someone’s mind and a lot of similar fouls do happen accidentally.

I’m gutted though. I love watching Bentancur. He is absolute class.

I, too, was furious at the time. In the pundit breakdown of 'how Villa got a hold of the game thanks to HT subs' no-one actually recognised that crocking our metronome on the day -and avoiding either a red or two yellows, because he dodged a second yellow- was ACTUALLY what changed the course of the game.

I honestly don’t think he wanted to do Doherty. I think his frustration at the disallowed goal saw the red mist descend. I’m sure a Villa fan would say it’s just a bad tackle without malice. Three different opinions and any one of us could be right or wrong.

That foul on Doherty was absolutely wreckless. This foul was wreckless and malicious. The guy plays clamy margins like this regularly.

You mean Bentancur? He defo wanted to do Doherty, he just absolutely smashed into him in an innocuous position.

If the three months diagnosis is accurate it's absolutely fudging sickening. Bubble has well and truly burst. Hope we can find some way to restore vibes against City, but man what a task now. Rodrigo is such a key component.

I know and it might sound crazy but for me its all about building for next season now, laying the foundations with Ange’s way of doing things, getting the squad right with ins and outs in the next two windows and then with (hopefully) everyone back next season (and surely better luck during the season) we can have a right go at it.

You do realise you are more positive about Matty Cash than the team you support?

It’s mad that Romero’s tackle on Enzo was a red and Cash’s assault on Bentancur was not. And it was the game changer for sure.

Not crazy at all, IMO. its actually a sensible, rational, and balanced view.

Romeros was a lot worse personally

Now I've calmed down, I dont think Cash's was a red red card, but as pointed out, should have had a second yellow.

Munn/Levy need to help Ange out in the window or the season could drift a bit

Live I thought it was red, still do. There was no intent to play the ball, he was late and high. It's reckless and endangering the opponent

What is the counter? no studs? so if I fudge a player up but don't use my studs it's ok?
