The Official 2023/24 Premier League Thread

It's worth a thread in itself but you've absolutely nailed it with this post, preaching to the choir of course but the amount of arsing about rather than just letting the football be the entertainment is nuts.

It's always funny when you get a shot of a manager staring vacantly picking his nose or scratching his arse whilst the ball has gone back in to play from a throw in.

I might have the wrong channel as sky said something about a new special view which makes it seem like you're watching a game played on FIFA or whatever it's called but it's awful.
That’s 3 channels up on the sky list
Sky sports football
It just means the show never changes as it’s one rail cam
It’s ok… bit different I guess

LOL yes - thank you - it annoys me no end!

And yes, you’re right “game cam” or whatever it is will be focus-grouped into the normal coverage I’m sure, to the detriment, I’m sure.

I mean, it’s not a video game. Surely that’s obvious?

I’m convinced they’re worried about eyeball-time and losing attention to people multi-screening, so they chop, chop, chop to make it look like there’s a lot going on. But that fight is already lost: the boomers and gen X are on forums during the game, millennials are on Twitter and gen Z are on TikTok. Heck, even people *at* the game are on their phone.

Tbh I’m glad it’s not just me. The BT coverage yesterday was actual worse than this on Sky today, almost literally unwatchable.

With all the competing rights holders looking to out do one another, TV production has disappeared up its own collective arse. And enjoying the view by all accounts.

But no amount of technical twiddling can amend the adventure-free football on display here.

It's terrible in a number of sports. The golf coverage recently has been an abomination

I see Arsenal have planted a group of black-clad fans behind Raya's goal. Trying to look proper hard men, in the ultra Balkan style.

Or they're stadium catering staff skiving off.
