Harry Kane MBE

We can't make him do that though. And we simply have to play someone of his calibre if available
And he genuinely might not know what he's going to do at end of the season, even though I'm pretty sure the temptation of one of the real big boys will be too much for him to resist going on a free next season.

I wish we had more clarity on what he's thinking, I've got my Fantasy football draft at 7.30 tonight! Depending on where I am I would go for Haaland or Salah but if those guys have already been picked and Kane is available is it worth rolling the dice....

Leave one of, if not the best striker in the world and our only world class player on the bench just to spite him? Nah, no thanks.

What transpires is immaterial. Up until the transfer windows shuts this option stays on the table. Postecoglou is not one to suffer fools, or have any issue pivoting and putting in a young hungry player who'll run and run for him. After the transfer window closes, who knows.

If he see's that we are going places he may end up signing an extension. It's simply worth the chance because if he helps us get top 4 we will make that money back anyway.

Yeah, Ange is going to bench Kane, right... Ok, lets imagine Ange loses the plot and does bench his best player by a mile, a couple of losses and the crowd is going to be on his back. Unless he has us top of the league he's on to a loser straight away.

Fwiw, I think this is a done deal. We are just getting our replacement signings done. I suppose Kane could scupper it, but tbh I think its been planned out in some detail for some time. And whilst you could pull the plug last minute, there are all maner of agents and people you'd probably be messing around. However, it is Kane's career, and if he wants to stay, sign a contract, and everyone gets on with playing football.

Did we fail to score goals against Barca? Is a 30 year old cut out to run and close down like a madman all game?

Kane playing from the bench at points during the season is a highly pragmatic move. He should be fresher at the end of the season than he has been very often. Kane and Son often running on empty by the end of the campaign.

As for Postecoglou he's done it before. He sacked off Harry Kewel who by degrees was a massive star in the smaller side he was managing at the time. Aging forwards don't really fit his preferred system.

It's not a pragmatic move, it's a stupid move in a season were we will mostly be playing one game a week and he won't be running on empty. He had a full season last week with the world cup in the middle and was still banging goals in at the end of it.

Harry Kewel a massive star? Nothing compared to Kane, not fit to lace his boots.

As outlined, the reality of what transpires is less important than the implied reality - if the club need to get the player out the door.

Things change, none of us know whats going on behind the scenes. He might be tinkled off with the messing around and has decided to stay and take control of things himself. Maybe City have been in touch and said they will sign him on a free at the end of the season. Loads of scenarios were he decides to stay. Not saying any of those have happened and he is staying but something seems to have changed.

I don't even think its a thing. Ange has said he wants it sorted before the season and it seems today is that deadline. Kane has alluded to it being done by Saturday. When Saturday comes I think (he says) this saga is done one way or the other

My hunch is there is no way he will go on a free now after he prevented us from avoiding that scenario, prevented us from pocketing £100m and prevented us from avoiding him joining one of our rivals on a free.

Definitely extension of some kind incoming imo!

They can imply what they want, everyone knows Kane is going to play, I know, deep down you know, the club knows and Harry knows.
