*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Eintracht Frankfurt **

I think injuries and the need for rotation may force Conte to play a midfield three in this or the next game.

Will be interesting to see what he does at RWB. Royal will miss out in the league, if he starts this one I can only assume that means he's still first choice in Conte's mind.

I don't see why Conte would have had his position on RWB changed after one game, unless it was a straw that broke the camels back type situation.

Up to whoever steps in to play well and show what we have been missing in the 3 league games, should Conte allow one player to get that run in the team.

I agree, but seeing quite a few comments indicating that this could be the case. All signs this season points towards Conte rating Emerson as his clear first choice. Little/no rotation even when games came quickly. Late and few subs. Perisic getting the nod on the right ahead of Doherty and Spence.

I don't think one red card will change that. But as you say someone could step up. I hope someone does.

It would be natural to start him today. Why risk injury to one of the other RWB and have 2 out for the next 2 weeks.

If he plays, Royal will be keen to do well and make amends. Not at all sure we will get a result tonight, but you never know.

If we lose today that'll be 3 defeats in 4 games and 3 straight away defeats....let alone the deja-vu feeling of a typical Conte CL campaign...

PLEASE WIN!

Damning indictment of Doherty either way. I don't like it when this sort of stuff is made public though.
At first, that's how I interpreted it too... there's a possibility that Conte was speaking generally and wasn't specifically referring to Doherty but if that was meant to be some sort of criticism of Doherty, that is pretty bad all around. Conte definitely was suggesting that Doherty hasn't been ready this season but I'm about 50/50 on whether Conte was talking about selecting players who aren't ready in general.

Totally agree - I think we always have to be mindful that he is responding in a second language though, and nuance can therefore be missed.
The clip is also a bit short and doesn't include the full response by Conte so slightly misleading in that regard, but either way, I am not sure what Conte is intending to say about Doherty.

Doesn't bode well for Spence or Doherty getting much game time anytime soon does it? I bet we continue with a mix of Royal or Perisic played on the right. :(

Yeah that's a good point. Read the full transcript later and the "I'm not stupid. I don't want to lose" comment may not have been related directly to Doherty but may have been unfortunately timed in the conversation.
