James Maddison

Maddison played 40 games in total last season with only 16 of them starting in the ACM position, the rest were spread around AMR/MR/CM - he's a versatile playerwho i think Conte would have covering and rotating a number of different positions.

Fair enough.

sort of choice that gets you the sack … eventually

30 G/A in 53 appearances across all comps.

Can take a better free kick than anyone in our squad too.

Curious on price, anything north of 50-60m doesn’t seem realistic.

2 years left on his contract so will lose value if not sold this window. But with tielemans off too not sure.

Home grown and would fit into the wide roles in the front three, possibly even the middle one. Although I suspect they'll all be fluid anyway. Would be a Moura replacement.

There were so many occasions last season under Conte when we lacked options for unlocking a team that was sitting back. Not sure if Maddison is the answer, but it would seem to be addressing the right question.

Correct.

He wouldn’t naturally fit in to many positions in the Conte system we saw at the end of last season but from that system he could do:

AML/AMR
One of 2 CMs if chasing a game

Or there are other positions he could play in a tweaked system:

AM in a 352 (with Kane and Son up top).
In a midfield 3 in a 433 (unlikely we use that system under Conte tho)

Would see good minutes I reckon.

Tielemens wouldn't last 5 minutes under Conte

he is a better fit than Maddison in terms of player profile. When has conte favoured a player like Madison? And in what system?

i get it you like him and rate him as a player but when you talk like that about tielemans you really should be saying the same about Maddison

But where do you play him in a 343? Who do we drop? Or if we go for 352 then kulu and richarlison most likely start on the bench. He'll cost what £70m? I get rotation but there are areas such as defence and rwb we can improve still (even with spence).

Leicester's financial position is precarious. They spend a ridiculous proportion of their income on wages and need to alleviate the pressure.
I think he could be got for a fair bit less than £70m.
Also, over fifteen of their players have contracts expiring next summer or the year after. They don't have much room for maneouvre when it comes to selling players for a decent amount

When has Conte fancied a hard working press resistant attacking player who scores goals and creates chances on the counter and has plenty of attitude? Really?

Tielemans does absolutely nothing off the ball - Conte wouldn't touch him

Eriksen at Inter. Was a lot of bench time initially but then Conte found a plan b with a 352 with Eriksen playing off 2 forwards and 2 attacking wing backs. Plan b then became plan a.

I think Conte felt a bit hamstrung last year with only a plan a and likes the idea of a plan b (that could quickly become plan a for spells in the season).

Well he did shoehorn Eriksen when he was brought in for him some times but mostly as a sub.

however I wouldn’t use erkisen as a comparison as to what conte has used. He’s not really used a playmaker as you put it, in his previous management.

Also disagree that James Maddison is press resistant.

sorry that just is not true. Eriksen was a bit party player under conte and was used as a sub. Even when conte changed his system Eriksen was not an automatic starter.

however he did use Eriksen off the bench to much effect. Can’t see Maddison wanting to do that at spurs.

furthermore apart from Eriksen when has conte used this sort of player in his management regularly before?

Not saying that we are not looking just can’t see it
