Oliver Skipp

It worth considering style match ups as well. I think Bentancur is stylistically very controlled and calm, aware of his surroundings and on top of most situations. PEH is a bit more of a fire fighter, takes responsibility, never hides, leads but is very much caught up in the hubbub of the game. They compliment well. Winks is like PEH in that he is a live wire and permanently has that nervous energy. When paired it can look a bit 'all action' and manic.

I've got a feeling Bentancur/Skipp might just be quietly efficient and effective, two intelligent players ending up understanding each others game perfectly.

Honestly, I'd say the opposite to those 3 myself :D

Really worried about this - does not sound good at all :(

I don’t want to put it in that category but so many of our DMs seem to look outrageously good on the pitch and then get mysterious injuries, Dembele, Palacios, Sandro and Wanyama. They appear to come in and look great and then disappear.

We miss Skipp greatly (whatever that says about our squad depth), fingers crossed he’s not out for too long. It’s all been said before but he appears mature beyond his years and if he is out it leaves us short, even in a comfortable world of playing just one game a week.*

*i hope this post looks dumb in the future if Harvey White turns out to be an absolute beast when called upon

Too many great players we lost to injuries for decades now. I thought the world class sports medicine and rehab facilities with the new stadium would put on that. Spurs curse?

From what I've seen of White he's a very tidy player, great left foot and probably the best dead ball kicker at the club but he plays too slowly and is not a powerful guy, bit like Tom Carroll.

They didn't get mysterious injuries. Both Sandro and Wanyama had serious knee/cartilage injuries. Dembele didn't really have many bad injuries, one towards the end, he was just coming towards the end of his career when he left us and not able for the demands that Poch put on his players. Can't recall what happened with Palacios.

Sadly Palacios was never the same player after his brother got abducted for ransom then murdered. It might have been a combination of injuries and that dreadful inducement that led to his footballing decline

Yeah, I think Palacios, mentally, never recovered from his brother's murder (understandable, of course). It was a shame because before that, he'd been the steeliest player I'd seen at Spurs for ages - no one could go past him.

The others were knee injuries and a perpetual hip injury for Dembele that came from his style of play.

Parker was an enforcer, didn't see him getting an injury like that in either season he played for us. Ditto Sissoko.

Think we've been very unlucky, but there isn't a pattern, imo.

Conte said hopefully he'll be back after the international break. Other sources think it might be longer. Saying he has osteitis pubis.

If Skipp follows the traditions of the club properly there will be the odd inkling of a return, delays, then surgery.

Don't see the new boys being displaced so I wonder how Hojberg will respond if Skipp takes his place in the starting line up.
