Its a politically insensitive move, IMO. And especially foolish getting snapped doing it.

Im not convinced AVB was tapping up anyone, Im happy to think it was innocent and he was meeting Sandro.

That said, how it looks is all important, almost more so than how it is. We are reportedly dealing with Porto RE Moutinho, how will they feel if they see this as us tapping up Hulk? How will they want to deal with us then? If at all!

Bundesliga bosses discussing to issue a fixed scale of fees for player agents.

Germans know how to do it. Time to sort it out.

This lack of transfer activity, coupled with Ledly's retirement makes this week a really crappy one after last week's excitement..

No its not. If Porto feel we are disrespecting them and messing them around then any approach is irrelevant.

The player himself refuted it - some years back Wheelchair went to Bolton's hotel in London before their clash with Arsenal to say hello (the year after his loan) - happens all the time in football. You are reading too much into that picture combined with your rather strange dislike towards a very good player

Danilo's either a macaron or an arse. Maybe a bit of both. The key is plausible deniability. Sure, AVB could have been tapping Hulk up. But as long as there's a plausible excuse (we're good friends, just a chat, etc, etc) then no one can make anything stick.

Lequipe are reporting on LLoris this morning that:

- Hes waiting for us to agree deal with Lyon
- Wenger has told Lloris that he has faith in Szczesny and will not bid for him
-We have are offering 11m Euros + many bonuses, Lyon want 20m Euros
- The lyon chairman is now apparently open to a quick last minute move(late in August) after previously saying that on the 15th of July if nothing was done, LLoris would stay.
- The two clubs are still negociating

Further to that - if Chelsea couldn't tempt him with their millions and CL football - do people honestly think we could do it combined with his massive buy-out clause of +/- 40m

Even more than plausible excuses I honestly don't think AVB went to the hotel to tap up anyone. If we wanted to tap up Hulk I'm sure we would have found a better, more hidden way to do it.

How I rate Hulk has nothing to do with my POV here at all, so stop trying to attribute that to me straight away.

I appreciate people meet up in a friendly manner. Ive already stated Im happy to believe it is perfectly innocent.

That is besides the point. AS A MANAGER Villas Boas has a responsibility to conduct himself in a manner befitting his position.

So much damage can be done if this situation was taken the wrong way - whether it was innocent or not has no bearing on it - its PR, it relations, professionalism.

Im guessing we want to keep good relations with Porto considering their midfield start is supposed to be our priority target. Porto could well take this situation the wrong way - thats not good...

Quite honestly I would be amazed if we could pull that deal off - he has a ridiculously high buy out and was iirc demanding high wages even by Chelseas standard.

About time too. It's a cartel and they bring absolutely fudging nothing of any value.

It could go either way though.

It could be a genius move whereby the rest of europe looks on in awe eventually adopting it as our own.

Or it could convince agents to attempt to talk their players out of moves to Germany, which other countries wouldn't exactly be against. Less competition. Clubs would love that. Especially the ones that can afford the higher agent fees.

Sorry Nayim, I'm going to have to say WALOB on this one. AVB is well within his rights to visit one of his senior players, especially as he isn't going to see him until the season starts. He probably said hello to half the Brazil squad that night but some little wind up merchant gets a snap of him and Hulk specifically to wind things up. What should AVB do, give him a custard pie as he breezes past?

Which should automatically and unconditionally prove your earlier fears 'unfounded' since we couldn't stand half a chance. He went to see Sandro, saw Hulk and said hello. Someone snapped him and the rest is a tossathon
