Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

We finished 4th the season before…. Despite zero signings…. A far higher position than our 6th place ‘par’.

We sacked the manager who got us 4 top 4 finishes in a row 12 games into his first bad season…. Appalling oversight from the chairman.

3 years of which we had a far superior team to everyone else

Poch was brilliant, he put an amazing team together, but it couldn't get over the line

Our form was that of a team fighting relegation. It didn't get better so he was sacked because otherwise we might have been fighting relegation.

Personally i think he should have been given more time to turn it around. Write off a season if we have to. But levy didn't.
We finished 4th….. WAY better than par. The previous season was a huge success. The manager was sacked due to a bad start to the season.

Well Conte's certainly made headlines...a 1-0 loss to Burnley on a night when Liverpool beat Leeds by 6 and United draw in the CL is now the lead sports story on BBC and SKY.

It's even made the front page of the rte.ie website over here and they usually pay attention to little beyond Liverpool and United.

5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th….. 5 seasons in a row a better finish than resources provided…. Perhaps our best run of league finishes in our history?

Then sacked 12 games in to the following season.

better than financial resources provided yes, but that ignores that fact that we got Kane for free, Eriksen and Alli for around 10m each, and Son and Lamela for fair prices

we had an exceptional team that underachieved relative to its ability, if not to its assembly cost

with hindsight, sacking him was wrong, as the players were the problem, but at the time, it appeared he'd just given up

From feb 23rd 2019 to when he was sacked in november our league form was:

W6
D7
L13

That form was 17th best in the prem. We were 14th at the time he was sacked.

If a manager wins the league but next season it looks like they might be getting relegated would you expect them to keep their job? Especially if the club had over £1bn of debt that the banks could just take the club off you if you can't make a payment? Levy isn't lewis. Almost all his wealth is spurs.

Just saw the interviews the quotes came from. Worrying. Particularly the first one where he pretty much says there will be a meeting with the club to discuss "the situation" and "make an assessment".

He keeps mentioning at "the situation" but doesn't really explain what that is. Can't imagine Levy is overly impressed with all of this. Feels like we're at a crossroads with Conte right now to me.

The thing is the performance wasn't too bad. They'll watch it back and have something to work with.

But Conte needs to find more goals from this team. I personally believe in Sessegnon and that he should stick with him - as there are goals in him once in his stride. Reggie is similar but I just don't see him scoring many. He promises to, but never delivers. Then we need to start Kulu at wing back, and get one of Moura or Bergwijn playing well as part of the front 3. With Bentancur fit too, it would be a more balanced side with more potential for goals. When did we last win games without Kane or Son scoring?

For sure. Levy HAS To back Conte or we are doomed to years more frustration.

Imo Levy will be fuming this morning. The last thing any of the board needs is more negative eyes on Enic and the club. IF Conte walks that’ll be a brickbat for Enic. IF he stays he’s got to be backed or it’s a brickbat for Enic. As it stands I have no idea how this one will pan out

Think Conte is taking the tinkle a little bit.
He’s all over emotional at the situation but some of it is his own doing. He’s supposed to be a world class manager and yet has been sleep walking into games. The 2 man midfield against Southampton then repeat the mistake against Wolves.Employing a system heavily reliant on our non existent wing backs. Take some personal responsibility and find a shape/System that suits the players.

Yes a good majority of the players are crap. As I said last time he chucked the toys out the pram. He took the job knowing the situation and we were never going to overhaul in one January window. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

This.

It is awful and becoming more unpredictable by the day. One moment you're left with the impression we could seriously go places then all the problems glare up again and decline is looking like a real possibility.
