Giovani Lo Celso

Could be argued that’s the case
But I still think they play rodri and Fernandinho CM
With silva foden and Sterling behind Jesus
Or magrez
And they also play Gungodan in that role behind the furthest forward man

But I’ve already shared with you the stats which prove that they don’t play Rodri and Fernandinho together at CM…

Edit: and for last season, Rodri started 31 games in central midfield, Fernandinho started 12. So they only started 5-12 games together.

Because Fernandinho was injured
They played Gungodan there

He wasn’t injured for all 26 games he didn’t play in, was he?

And what about this season?

Or 19/20, when Fernandinho started 2 games in midfield all season?

Never mind, I’ll stop banging my head against a brick wall at this point - seems like you have zero interest in accepting that you might be mistaken.

I’m not
I’ve seen them play enough games
They don’t have enough CM to play 4-3-3
I know they have no strikers but they have a lot of WF
They play with one CM a lot, that I would agree with
But that’s because they dominate possession
There are plenty of analysis online or their set up

^^ Ali Gold said that after the game on Thursday Lo Celso came back onto the pitch to do interviews and was slightly limping after an extremely hard game.

All of our players are carrying varying levels of fitness, knocks, strains, twinges, pain killing injections, strapping, we don't see all of that.

E.g. Dier had massive strapping after the dead leg against Palace, clearly he had a big issue there.

Thank you. Sounds far more plausible than my imagined scenario.

Does seem odd. Maybe he’s in bad favour if he’s off to South America in the international break without being fully vaccinated - meaning another quarantine stint and PL games missed. Pure speculation on my part I hasten to say.

And yet when he came on what he contributed in 15 minutes was more than double what Tangy contributed in 75. I have been supporting Tanguy more than most but today he was shocking.

I'd love to actually see Tanguy as a CM with Lo Celso ahead as the AM. That more closely matches their attributes. At the very least if they are sharing the attack role that's a positive over a square peg in Dele doing it.

And Lo Celso missed the easiest chance of the game. Got it on a silver plate with a ridiculous piece of skill from Kane, but only served up a tame finish. Ndombele gets roasted, but Lo Celso gets a free pass. He didn't do much else than miss that sitter.

There is a pattern, whichever one starts gets cussed. [emoji1787]

And it's weirdly revisionist suddenly it's as of neither have ever played well for us when we know that's not true of either of them. It's disappointing that 2.5 seasons later we still have rarely seen them utilised in the correct way but that is what it is. We're sort of getting there finally.

He should have scored
Or made mings work much harder
Good thing was he there in the right place
We know Tanguy wouldn’t have got there and would have tried three step overs first before trying to place it in
It’s why their very different players
One is a high energy number 10
The other is a midfielder and played his whole career as an CM in a 4 man midfield

It’s becoming the new Defoe vs Keane, Walker v Trippier debates, for some it’s impossible to just like or rate both. Bizarre.
