*** OMT Tottenham v Crystal Palace ***

Ndombele is never what you need, waste of a shirt.

I don’t think it would have been fair to throw any of the kids into that game.

Gil didn’t do much against that Portuguese pub team so I don’t think he’d have been any use today either.

I didn't see the second game but wasn't everyone raving about Gil?

Agreed Bishop, we must have some skill and control, as it forces the other team back and lets us move up the pitch and take a breath, rather than being constantly on the back foot.

I'm surprised Lloris isn't getting pelters, he started the rot today by making Dier go in for 60:40 full pelt. Idiotic 'pass'.

I absolutely love Hugo but he owes Dier a pint for that. Horrendous distribution.

We had a few passes like that across the pitch.
We don't pass enough with deliberate intent and pace.
It's either all too casual or like passing a hot potato urgency

every chianti and his dog knows I hate Hugo, but yeah that was the first act on the way to total doom.

I'm tinkled about that performance but not surprised. We have a mid-table squad plus Kane and Son and if they are either not available or off form we simply have a mid-table squad.

We should all adjust our expections to this reality, it may make the season less painful to watch.

There was nothing on the bench that could have improved us imo.

The players were just brick, you can move the pieces on the chess board around, but if they are all pawns you are fudged.

Maybe not, but it would at least show them performances like this won't be tolerated.

I don't want to say I told you do but so many of us were saying exactly what happens if you constantly play with no creativity and no ability to control the pace and tempo of a game by possession.

I hope Nuno learns from today and makes adjustments because playing three cloggers ain't going to work.

Fully agree with this, tbh. I'll only point out that there were no other options but to play Winks in that midfield today - and once Winks is on the field, you know what you're getting.

In terms of Tubby, the man hasn't played a game, friendly or otherwise, in six months, has trained abominably and has a truly atrocious attitude.

And outside of Tubby, who else was available?

Eeeh, an awful lot of factors just came against us today. I'd be more concerned if we had been hammered while being in an impeccable position going into the match and throughout it

Stick with the 3 men in midfield that had played the previous games, PEH, Skipp and Dele.
Bring in Gil for Son. Still not the most creative midfield but better balance than today.

The other option was keep Dele in midfield where he has been playing, and play Gil alongside Kane and Moura (ie keep the same system as the first 3 games)

Possibly. But, imo, Gil's a raw kid coming off a tough international break where he was highlighted as being absolutely exhausted after one game by his coach. The guy is fairly promising, but, like with all our kids, I don' t really want him thrown in to fill the boots of someone like Sonny in tough away games like this.

And looking at that bench, we had three guys who could have offered something different in Tubby, Gil and Scarlett. Two raw kids and an out-of-shape waste of wages. Hardly transformative stuff, wouldn't you agree?

It boils down to intent for me.

Was it our intention today to sit in snd try and pinch one against Crystal effing Palace? If so then nah, sorry. Not for me.

fudging Winks is such a disappointment for me. Really thought hed be a great player for us and the type of midfielder very few other clubs have. I don’t criticise him much because I want him to do well every game and he’s useless when he plays.

He had one opportunity first half today to release Reguilon with a 20 yard ball. It needed a good pass but not a particularly difficult one. He missed Reguilon by about 5 yards and landed it on the centre backs head. So, so disappointing.
