Transfer rumours - summer 2021 edition

Yes we did , but we got battered by Wolves. Yes the result was a win the performance was very different.

We were not in control of the game . Think we need a CM. Sarr is going back on loan according to reports . So does not fill the void that is our midfield
Battered?
Hugo made one too save all game
I dont remember them having a shot in the area
They had plenty of the ball I agree but really offered nothing of note for that “battering”
I agree I’d rather see us control the ball as we have better players when we get the chances but that’s not an instant fix

They looked like us under poch at times, loads of the ball, not nuch end product and vulnerable on the counter.

Surely you jest? If he wanted to, you take it, same with Messi

When fudging Ndombele watches how that guy trains, maybe he gets it.

Beyond what he would bring (look at Bale's impact, Ronaldo is quite a level above Bale) on the pitch, the commercials would be crazy (too lazy to look it up, but there is data on Juve's exposure, kit sales, etc.), we would also have a naming rights deal done in a week.

Bale last year was OK at best.

I would just rather see us use the money on a long term project, you might be right on it paying for itself, in which case sure.

So he's going to Juve? Thought he was going to sign a new contract at Milan.

Here's a translated tweet apparently.

Kessie said earlier in the window he wanted to extend with Milan though.

Milan are in massive financial problems and still need to cut wages. Kessie is in the last year of his contract so will probably want a big wage increase.
Whether he would want to come to us is a different question though.

A good break down of their situation.

They were dominant for a good 70 minutes.

1 critical save yes but Wolves had plenty of ball in final third . We were rarely in control. Moving forward that’s a problem. Hence my original post we are short in a few areas.

Happy for the points but the performance left a lot to be desired.

What do you class as dominant?
Possession I assume?
Spanking the ball from range?
Surely you have seen us play like that before and lose

Yes had all the ball , were constantly probing and had their end product been better it would have been different. Similar as the City game really but they have far better players. We were playing Wolves. Good side not world beaters.

If you are happy with what you witnessed yesterday then fair enough . I was not and in my eyes we are short in a couple areas.

I was not happy with what I saw, it was a tough game and we absolutely need to improve

- I do think though, if both Wolves and City went away thinking "unlucky", they are being naïve. As others have said, we have seen this show before, except it was us.
- Forget xG, possession, even attempts, how many saves did Hugo have to make? 2?

What is worth noting is in both games

- We made them play in the areas we wanted them to play, i.e. pushed them wide
- We created counters all game long, as easily as you could say they could have converted something, both games could have been 3-0 to us with no real shock (based on our opps created)

I can't judge this side until we start with a striker (Kane) and one of the CMs (Lo Celso or Ndombele)

More points than last season
Very tough to play a team away with their fans on your back in their first home game
Wolves had more shots and chances vs Leicester last week and still lost
We’re missing a capable CF
We do need to tweak the midfield
But a key for me is the CBS haven’t been exposed
The full backs have controlled their sides of the pitch in a way we haven’t seen for a while (Traore dominated first half then did nothing)
It’s very very very early days

Yup, and Skippy is the difference.
