Tottenham vs The Scum

It's not often I get to say this but hooray this country! Secularism FTW!

Are there any Muslim-majority countries where homosexuality isn't considered a crime today? Genuine question, but I'm pretty sure the answer is "no." In many, it's a crime punishable by death. Directly due to Islamic/Abrahamic dogma.

Are we allowed to criticise this fact or would that be Islamophobic?

Anyway, I don't really want to stoke any fires here. We'd all be better served getting on with hating that lot down the road, which is clear to me the reason Scara would prefer we boo rather than cheer Saka. A sentiment I don't agree with but can understand.

Of course you can criticise the fact that homosexuality is illegal in some Muslim countries. But name the country and criticise it. Homosexuality is illegal in some Christian countries as well.

Homosexuals still face discrimination in this country. None of it is right. Live and let live.

When genuinely asked its called trolling or Inciting hate?

I responded like that because I have already stated that KKK is a Christian terrorist group.

I remember reading somewhere that according to the FBI roughly 94% of terrorists acts between 1980 and 2006 (I think) where committed by non Muslims. Not sure if that's just in the states or world wide.

But somehow "the muslims" are associated with terrorists

For the last time: "the muslims" don't exist as one homogenous group. Criticise the country, the sect, the terrorists group... I will join in with you in this criticism. But Islamaphobia is when you group muslims with them without doing the same for other groups

ALL Muslim countries. Because of Islamic dogma.

Sorry for replying and continuing the derailment of this thread.

That’s a fair point. Hungary and Russia are examples of western nations where being gay is seen as offensive and not politically correct. I don’t believe they would be killed for their sexual orientation like they would be in Saudi Arabia but it’s still a problem.

There are more non Muslim countries that outlaw homosexuality than there are Muslim countries that do.

So the question is what has made you think its a Muslim issue? And what without having knowledge of the religion the people the countries and the laws has given you the confidence to make a statement about it as if it were fact?

Not being a dîck here, just trying to show you how perhaps unconscious Islamaphobia has formed your view points

OK, sorry. Turkey maybe?
Peace and love to all. Except Gooners.

Not outlawed in Turkey at all, there are pride festivals in Turkey. A very famous singer is Transexual (was openly gay then transitioned) accepted and loved by her fans.

But Turkey is not the only country.

Saudi Arabia is system is fûcked up, you will never find me defending it in any way shape or form. But the number of countries that still outlaw homosexuality will maybe surprise you.

Malaysia was a country that stumped me
I didn’t realise it was a Muslim country. That’s never really been an issue for any place we have been
But we met several locals who were scathing of the in country “apartheid” that the world didn’t ever comment about. Muslims get discounts on things and non-Muslims pay more. That blew my mind. We was at an Italian restaurant owned by a Sikh family in Penang and the owner came over to chat. He told me a secret… he had access to bacon so could make me an amazing carbonara as ping as I didn’t tell the police. Wow …. Was nice food TBF

I’ll add also that all the people we met apart from an Arab couple were amazingly nice, courteous, polite people regardless of their religions (I couldn’t tell who was what TBH). The Arab couple were assholes and rude to everyone in their way

I would question the validity of many on that list either in terms of their classification as Muslim countries or in terms of shouting about their LGBT rights.

Brunei?! They implemented the punishment of stoning to death just two years ago.

Anyway, I've visited many, many Muslim countries and they're all beautiful and full of beautiful, friendly people, and I loved them all. But to say there's no link between Abrahamic religions and anti-LGBT movements is pretty far fetched.

Peace and love brother.

Turkeys a strange beast. Been going there on holiday for 25 years or more and also done quite a bit of business there
They pick and choose what parts of the faith they want to apply when is suits. Their very westernised and again IMO sound people to meet and socialise with. No one enforces anything on you

Always peace and love.

Yeah, those guys need to get with the programme too. Their laws are all also rooted in religious dogma.

That list makes for depressing reading and shows how far parts of the world still have to come. Presumably the punishments differ ie Saudi Arabia i imagine have a stricter punishment to, say, Egypt

I'd also hazard a guess that the majority of countries on that list have a largely religious population

There is an argument that states that its a legacy of colonialism.

But my point was that there are more non Muslim countries that outlaw homosexuality then there are Muslim countries that do. So why do you and west associate homophobia with "the Muslims"

Would still be interested in your answers to the questions I posed.

But your right all those countries need to get with the program of live and let live.

It gets more depressing if you dig a little deeper, I think only 25 (from memory) members of the UN recognise same sex marriage

There are also more non-Muslim countries than Muslim countries that don't outlaw homosexuality. That's a silly argument.

I don't have a "phobia" of Islam in as much as I have a phobia of pretty much all organised religion, especially the Abrahamic strands that actively seek to interfere with and harm people who are just going about their lives. Buddhism seems pretty chill. And Hinduism and Sikhism from what I know are mostly cool and peaceful (may be wrong there, I'm as ignorant as the next guy as I'm sure you can tell).

It would be a silly argument if homophobia wasn't conflated with "the muslims" by those in the west which you yourself done in this thread.

Claiming amongst other things that all Muslim countries outlaw homosexuality, then when I showed you that is not true and there are actually more non Muslim countries that outlaw it. Instead if saying, you know what I learnt something today. Maybe I am making assumptions based on the discourse that I am being fed in the western media. Maybe I have been indoctrinated to have a unconscious level of Islamabhobia, and this is manifesting in the incorrect assumptions that I am making. You double down and say "I'm not phobic of Muslims."

Again not trying to be a Dįck just trying to educate, something that I appreciate having done to me when I learn something new and maybe change my perspective on something.

Anyway dude peace and love

I think it's because there are many Islamic terrorist groups currently who are constantly in the media citing some literature to justify their actions. If that's not bad enough it's on our doorstep in Europe where we cannot be European and have the freedom of speech questioned.

It just makes it unpalatable for all when crimes are committed in the name of some religion.

Just out of interest are there atheist terrorists? Or Christian terrorists? Or am I being naive?

A quick search of your beloved will reveal at least a half dozen around the world some with multiple murders and assaults to their name...
