Miralem Pjanic

How many has he been given a chance to play in his neutral position ?

Few I would say .

Haha Siggy's current position is his "neutral position" because he does as much for the opposition as us when he's playing there.

He's been hard working and most effective on the left regardless what people thing his natural position is.

If he's on a free then well worth signing him for a couple of years, we don't have another player like him and some experience in the middle would be good.

One of my favourite players a few years back, not really seen much of him at Barca, would be a great signing.

Could be the mix between Parstici signing Pirlo for free at Juve and Nuno having Moutinho at Wolves?

Lovely player, but who knows where he's at right now and how he will deal with a move to the PL at 31.

As long as the wages aren't completely bonkers I would support it for sure.

always seemed to be someone who delivered whenever I saw him before, but I struggle to see what Pjanic would add to us

Is signing a 31 year old wide, attacking midfielder what we need?

Wouldnt feel like part of a long-term rebuilding plan, more than we'd be trying to convince Kane we can be competitive this coming season

He plays in CM a prime position for an older head.

Don't think wide attacking midfielder is his best or primary role.

Deep playmaker, move the ball, do enough defensively, press resistant, tempo setting midfielder for me.

It's hardly a long term solution given his age. I think him and Hojbjerg could form a very good partnership personally, if we go for a back four a trio with the two of them and one of GLC and Ndombele looks rather promising.

Not sure what it would mean for GLC and Ndombele short term given that it would limit their playing time for that role. But for the team in terms of options right now, given how often we've seen Winks and/or Sissoko in those positions. I think it would definitely make us better.

That's assuming he adapts well and fairly quickly to the PL.

Agree re age: that was my point.

I think he's always been decent as I said....I'm just not sure he's what we need at the moment. If signing him didnt prevent others coming in, then I guess its fine however he'll want big bucks which might be a problem given our cash position.

If he comes in and Sissoko leaves and you view that as one in / one out of two midfielders towards the end of their careers, and we can net a few £m from Sissoko then the squad is not materially worse from an age perspective or even more imbalanced towards NHG players and we raise a bit of cash...however we'll be paying Pjanic £100k or so more than Sissoko so that would eat up whatever fee we get

Footballing wise, it’s kind of a no brainer to swap him for Sissoko or Winks.

But we’d need to make sure we can’t get stuck paying high wages for years if it doesn’t work out.

If we're going for a rebuild. Go for a rebuild. Don't bring in players over 30 on huge wages that we'll have trouble moving on as he declines.
The prem is not la liga or serie a. More physically demanding.
