Next Manager?

Watched a PSG game last month,it was on a sunday night around 940 pm PSG were away to some lowly team in the league agreed no crowds but the pace of the game was so slow and lacklustre you could see Poch demeanour on the side thinking this aint what i signed up for....could do this job in my sleep.

What do you get out of doing the PSG job.....

Rich?

I've been away from the thread for a couple of days - are we all seriously giving credence to the idea that the board are looking to get a manager in who will play a certain formation because of the players we have in the squad?

If anyone is actually thinking that, then please go and get your head read, surely?

To select a manager based on a formation is to announce to our competitors that we are going to play a certain way, every time, and that we won't flex. All the best managers of the past 30 years have adapted their formations to the opposition, the form of their own players and the best strategy to win a game.

To suggest we are selecting a manager this way is madness, and tabloid poppyrooster.

The club probably doesn't care about specific formation vs. could the potential manager leverage the core of players we want to keep

Agreed - going to PSG is only about one thing. I blame players more, in particular someone like Neymar. Wasting his prime years in France

Whoever comes in has to look at what we can win. If it is Poch (and my heart would love it to be, my head is undecided) I hope we have a go at the Europa Conference. Yes it may be a revamped Intertoto Cup but we could win it as well as growing as a team, something which finishing 4th and going out in mid/later rounds of the CL or EL just doesn't do.

The real worrying thing is that the season ended a few days ago and it seems we're no nearer to finding a new manager, looks like there was no dedicated plan or targets to move on swiftly unless it's all being kept under wraps.

If something isn't sorted soon then it's going to be a tough summer - everyone will be at he Euros.

Not meaning how much they are going to spend, but who they spend it on. Poch will want his choices rather than leonardos or the owners.

Or maybe he's just unhappy there.

If that were the case it would mean at 2 different clubs he had issues with transfers.

It is widely accepted that we did not sign players because he was unhappy with the choices(maybe correctly when we see some of our signings) managers have to deal with the resources of the club. He sort of threw his toys out of the pram over signings.

And turned down some that would have undoubtedly improved us.

Back on here after a long long absence... exactly a fortnight ago I was told that Poch was unhappy in Paris and was being lined up by Madrid. The source was extremely credible. As Zidane was still in the job I was dubious but it seems like there might have been some substance in it.

Slightly different scenarios

- In Spurs, he seemed to get cold feet after a few bad buys, then obviously the delays re stadium caused issues
- For PSG, it's clear he may not even be told something is happening (e.g. the Aurier rumour)

If Poch came back I will enjoy seeing how the pro Levy crowd put a positive spin on the whole debacle.
I’ll give it a go:D Everybody makes mistakes, not that I even think this was one anyway - Poch was done by the time he was sacked, emotionally especially he needed a break literally everyone could see it. The time apart has given Levy a chance to see that a big name doesn’t necessarily mean the best fit for our club, Poch might see that it’s not always all it’s cracked up to be managing one of the powerhouses in Europe, and some fans might also appreciate to be more patient with a forward thinking coach and respect there are going to be some bumps along the way for a club like ours that don’t have a bottomless pit of money....

i said this multiple times though, Poch would have worked at Man U, blend of youth and experience, like Spurs, get them running themselves into the ground like Bielsa does.

You aint gonna get Neymar in for double training sessions on a wet Wednesday.
