Next Manager?

Any manager coming in will get some backing

I'd be more worried Poch thinks that Davies, Dier, Winks, Sanchez are still worth keeping

Pretty much my thoughts. We need a clear out of the Poch era players, especially the ones you mentioned in your post. I’d also be worried the likes of Dier and Sanchez will continue to get more game time when they are a big part of the problem. Not to mention he’d pick Alli every week regardless of how well he’s playing. I’m not against keeping Alli but there needs to be meritocracy. I would like Poch to come back but if he comes back now we’d probably end up sacking him by December if we’re mid table or worse.

I can't belive I'm getting sucked in to the 'Poch to return' rumours, but this would perhaps tie in with the 'We know who we want but it's going to be expensive to get him' rumours?

Guy on talksport said that it wouldn't be expensive. If poch wants to leave all he has to do is resign.

Impossible not to get sucked in at this point for me at least. Most of the most reliable (or least unreliable) sources are saying it's being worked on. Di Marzio, Gold, Pitt Brooke/The Athletic. If this is all rumours with no substance it would be unusual imo, and a rather strange one for anyone to "leak" for other reasons (distraction, contract negotiations etc).

Still difficult to believe anything before it's actually done, but I have a very hard time believing that there's not truth to the rumours that it's being worked on at least.

If a manager wants out it's pretty much a question of buying out their contract isn't it? The fee will more or less be the remaining wages on the contract I thought at least. Unless a deal for less can be negotiated.

Could be expensive in terms of wages on a new deal or demands for the transfer market, but I don't think that's what the rumours were about.

Not sure how it works in france. He's in the last year of his contract though.

Or poch trying to gain leverage to get his way in the transfer market. Psg said he is meeting leonardo to discuss transfer targets.

Time to add a poll @milo ?

Pochettinho, Conte, Potter (Rogers?)

What is the consensus on other forums? Interesting how different fan forums tend to have different cultures and ideas.

Could be, but I have a hard time seeing it. Pochettino wash pretty much above aboard about moving on both here and before coming here. And he's under pressure at PSG already having lost the league title, not sure rumours about him wanting to leave and negotiating with us helps his case or just gets him closer to getting sacked.

If he's trying to strong arm PSG good for him, don't see it working in his position.

Not meaning how much they are going to spend, but who they spend it on. Poch will want his choices rather than leonardos or the owners.

Or maybe he's just unhappy there.

I've been away from the thread for a couple of days - are we all seriously giving credence to the idea that the board are looking to get a manager in who will play a certain formation because of the players we have in the squad?

If anyone is actually thinking that, then please go and get your head read, surely?

To select a manager based on a formation is to announce to our competitors that we are going to play a certain way, every time, and that we won't flex. All the best managers of the past 30 years have adapted their formations to the opposition, the form of their own players and the best strategy to win a game.

To suggest we are selecting a manager this way is madness, and tabloid poppyrooster.
