Daniel Levy - Chairman

Spurs players told to conduct unplanned lap of appreciation to quell angry fans chanting against Daniel Levy

By Dan Kilpatrick

Tottenham’s players were told to leave the dressing to conduct an unplanned lap of appreciation after some supporters refused to leave the stadium after the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

In bizarre scenes, the squad returned to the pitch around 40 minutes after full-time to appease many of the 10,000 returning supporters who had remained in their seats, expressing frustration at the club’s chairman Daniel Levy and ticket prices, long after the final whistle.

It is understood the players’ lap of honour was supposed to take place immediately after the final whistle but many fans seemed to think it had not yet happened at all and the players were asked to re-emerge to quell the atmosphere.

Only Harry Kane – who applauded each corner of the stadium alone in what could be his last home match for Spurs – and Dele Alli, Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had initially stayed out at full-time.

Before the players came back out, the stadium tannoy and stewards appeared to encourage fans to leave but many still stayed put and there was a scuffle between some supporters and security staff in the South Stand.

Angry supporters chanted “We want Levy out” and “We want our Tottenham back” at Levy, and “Sixty-quid you’re having a laugh” and “we want our money back” in reference to the blanket price of tickets for the match.

There were few fans remaining when the players re-emerged but the atmosphere improved, with supporters chanting for Kane and Bale.

Spurs went down to a Sergio Reguilon own goal and Ollie Watkins’ strike after Steven Bergwijn had opened the scoring.

Asked about fan unrest, interim head-coach Ryan Mason said: "We've just lost a game of football. It's an emotional game.

“Our fans care. I care, so I've no problem with fans being disappointed. They've come here to support us and they wanted us to win.

“"We didn't do that. I feel very disappointed that we didn't do that. So they're emotional.

“There's nothing wrong with that. That's normal in this game. It shows they care."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What a f*cking coward. Sell up and f*ck off, Joe Lewis - and take your pointless, mediocre henchman with you, because he's not fooling folks anymore.

Just back home from that freak-show. There is a line "From structure comes strategy". How true!
I think Levy will consider several options, and hiring a DOF plus manager, ie changing the structure, is one of them. He may well consider delegating much that he has previously focused on, and spending more energy on property development, both because that appears his forte, and because the fate of a normal CEO after such poor decisions, is to be fired. Perhaps a season with no Europa distractions will help the new coach to reinvent us as a well-drilled team.

I think we will make changes, we tend to react if nothing else

Levy's job is never in doubt mate, Joe doesn't give a fudge if we are 4th or 8th, his asset is doing well.

Or maybe he would have actually got our club over the line to do what it is that football clubs are supposed to do and win trophies?.... If we look at our debt (biggest debt in Europe) then it might actually be our present owners that you love so much who bankrupt us.

If, buts and maybe's. How many clubs has " re nt a qu ote" left in the lurch. You should be thankful really that he did not cost us and lost Levy his job. Who would you spill your bile on if Levy was not here.

I think things are going to get rather toxic in the stadium at Spurs over the next year or two.

He did fantastically to achieve over the odds for us despite the board’s penny pinching and also gave us some brilliant to watch football. ENIC were lucky to have him.

Hopefully we can bring in top quartile owners instead of bottom quartile ones like we have now, or if we’re not that lucky to get a change in ownership then at least a decent chairman and then hopefully there will be no bile to spill. Until then we’re stuck with the Laurel and Hardy.... I mean Levy and Hitchen show.

With brilliant situational awareness like this, it is all but guaranteed.

Levy used to at least be half-good at lying enough to avert PR disasters. But the last year, it's been one PR disaster after another - the guy's losing his grip on top of being exposed for the deadweight he and his useless tax exile boss are.

there is part of me that wants it to happen just so I can spend the rest of my life being right about it inevitably resulting in disaster

Fair enough i take it you have never talked to fans of the other clubs he has fudged up on throwing money around they did not have. He has a list of them, thankfully Levy put a chain on him and stopped him from doing the same here.

people like him are the problem
Claim their unhappy... still pay the £60

exactly, I didn't have a chance of getting a ticket for tonight, but I wouldn't have paid £6 to watch this squad after the effort we have seen from them for the last 6 months, let alone £60

Spurs are a business, if you don't like the product don't buy it, that's the only thing that will get them to change their market approach

Mate, again, realization is an awful thing

- For everyone who wants to protest, not pay their money, there is a line (of yes probably less passionate, less troublesome?) customers waiting
- I can tell, there is no unsold seats for next season ..(and we don't even know if we get to watch games)

PR might be a brick show now, but the club will be fine-ish

Next season will start, one of United/Scum/Pool will get in a rough patch, media will look away, all back to normal.

The think what sums up Levy right now is those Spurs facemasks he wears.
We all had them bought for us by someone at the start of the pandemic.
We all know they are the worst quality and fit of a mask imaginable.
Those type of masks are even legal in most of europe where fpp2 is a minimal requirement.

Levy, a millionaire that wont pay £1 for a proper facemask, because he wants to look like a real fan.

Mate, we don't have to be chained down by mediocrity because of the Sugar years. A brighter future is possible, we don't have to keep that trauma 20 years on to justify these mediocre, cheapskate deadweights.

If you're right - and there is a definite chance of that - alright, fair enough. But these c*nts have to go anyway - if only to let us dream.

Our talisman is leaving us, with tears in his eyes, because we couldn't match his ambitions - a player born to play for Spurs, a Spurs fan born and bred, who is leaving because ENIC the c*nts wouldn't build him a team to support his talents.

F*ck them. We can do better. We have to try.

Jesus talk about scraping the barrel

Don't blame him, mate. Hard to walk away from your club, even if you know how damaging, how mediocre, how shameless the owners are.

ENIC know they're selling an inelastic product to Spurs fans who won't abandon their club. It's what lets them sit there like the useless deadweights they are. It takes a lot to drive fans away, after all.

But what's hilarious to me is that Levy couldn't stand even the tiniest bit of criticism, fleeing like a coward. Stay there and take it, Danny boy. You made it.

Nah. Rather trot the team out and throw Ryan Mason, a Spurs fan born and bred, under the bus to avoid it.

Coward.

Don’t believe everything you read. Dan Kilpatrick has already nailed his colours to the mast.
Every year at the last home game of the season, the game ends, the players go back to the changing room, the announcer tells fans to stay in their seats because the players will be back out to do an appreciation lap of honour, and after an interminable wait, that is what happens. Players, wives, girlfriends, children, all do a lap of the ground. Today the plan was exactly the same. I know because that was in the pre match emails and after the game the announcer told me to wait in my for that event.
As it transpired, the players couldn’t be arsed to come out. The tannoy told us to leave the stadium. Apparently the players eventually had to come out because some fans wouldn’t leave their seats. The players should have stuck to the plan and come out. Fans chanting against Levy was filling the void. The players were told to come out because that was the original expectation and and that is what the remaining fans were waiting for. However most fans had either left the stadium altogether or moved inside by that time. I have never known the players refuse to do a lap of appreciation before and it reflects badly on them imo.

I think with ENIC the worst case scenario is what we are seeing right now, we'll never drop out of the top half.

Anyone else in charge and all bets are off, bankruptcy, dropping out of the PL, anything could happen.

It's a risk, and risks should never be taken.

It’s hard for him to walk away as he makes money form his videos and sound bites
I didn’t go
I didn’t apply and I was meant to be away for work
I would not have been happy but I wouldn’t have done a video for teletext

Just more proof ( if any is needed) is that a lot of the players we have at the moment do not give a brick about the club or us fans are stealing a living and some of them have been doing it since the last 6 months of Pochs reign.
