Charming funny Jose he is gone and grumpy, rude (sexist?) Jose is back, the final part of his normal cycle is in full swing. The sooner he's gone the better.

We all feared this when he was appointed but I thought we'd be a couple of years down the line with a pot or two in hand before this happened. The collapse since December is frightening - it all smells of a bunch of players who no longer believe in the manager for me. And, frankly, I don't blame them.
But I can't see Levy pulling the trigger yet. He should but this was his big bet as far as managerial appointments go. I know Levy is tough but things will have to get quite a bit worse before he's fired I think. If Levy was clever, he'd have had a "don't qualify for the CL and you're out with minimal payment" clause that Man U had with Moyes (didn't they sack him the day after qualification became mathematically impossible).

The crazy thing is that Mourinho is probably the first manager he hasn’t let down.
True re Bale's Europa League performances. But at least we know that at his best Bale has shown far more than Moura or Lamela ever have. To my mind, Mourinho should be doing everything he can to try and get the best out of him again. That should be his priority, to make the most of each asset at his disposal. Instead his approach seems to be the opposite, prioritising gametime for less talented players - presumably because he prefers a trier to someone with more talent but (in his opinion) the wrong attitude. Same with Dele. But at the moment I think that approach is counterproductive, because it isn't working. Lamela, Moura and Bergwijn are still ineffective, the team as a whole doesn't look motivated, and Bale and Alli aren't playing because they're clearly not responding to Mourinho's management of them.
To give one specific example - after Bale put in one of his much better showings against Wycombe, Jose brought on Lamela for Kane at HT in the next match rather than Bale, and then only gave Bale 9 minutes at the end. Why?

Think of it to his way, Levy has a hard on for Mourinho as much as you’ve had one for him going. He’s also not going to pay out around 20m in this time unless the situation is absolutely desperate. We are in poor form, but still in all four competitions. Like you say, things would be harder if crowds were allowed but that isn’t happening this season. He will most likely be here the season....
I must be one of the few who has some (albeit not much) faith that things can change and that's because up until Liverpool away we were doing fine. Granted the football wasn't great but we were getting results and managed to nullify City earlier on and gave Liverpool a good game and on another day might have won.
It seems that all of these late goals we've conceded has seen Jose and I guess some of the players get scared and they've retreated into their shell and can't seem to get out of it. Jose is generally a defensive manager anyway who relies a lot on players with strong leadership and the ability to concentrate for 90 minutes which doesn't help things.
Don't forget we smashed Southampton, Utd and for 80 minutes gave West Ham a good beating all of which were good performances so at some point we had a vague way of playing that worked well.
Definitely a switch in players is needed, Dier dropped, don't play Sissoko if PEH is playing. Give Lamela more minutes as he's looked decent and I think we could start to play a bit better - maybe retain more possession in midfield where we're so wasteful.
Defensive football might be dull but a great counter attacking team who attack with pace and purpose can be good to watch.

Yes we were playing well before but everyone has figured out Jose and he's got zero answers since. Look at Jenas and Rio yesterday saying the same thing as everyone else, we have no play style no philosophy on the attack, simply hit and hope. The experiment hasn't worked, he's losing players in the dressing room, he's sticking to a method that's outdated and worse, will forego mistake after mistake by players like Dier but slam down on people like Dele for the smallest things. Dier been fudging brick all season another mistake leading to another goal and he's Jose's first choice CB.

We've talked a lot about this amongst the pod group, you do need the whole quote though as Jose (as a manager) would 100% disagree with the first part of it .(fallacy the game is about winning etc) We as fans though (and specifically Tottenham fans) would weep at how far away we are from aligning ourselves with any part of the sentiments carried in that quote.

Levy made a choice and the ball in his court, as always. Levy leaves it the end of the season and he is just doing greater damage. Abramovich is correct in the way he deals with this, rip the plaster off quick.
All this, we are in poor form, but still in all four competitions is us kidding ourselves.

I do. And they lost faith in Pochettino, too? Why don't they conduct the interviews themselves, then? Even Kane, who's by far the best player at the club, has won nothing so far in his career. You could argue that it's because he's been with us the whole time but he's yet to make a difference with England too.
If it's true (we don't know that), it's a very unprofessional attitude. Granted, you see that a lot these days but that doesn't make it ok. They should be giving their all, regardless of what they think about the manager or the system. If they're not good enough or if the system is flawed, fair enough, but as a supporter, I find it hard to accept that a whole season goes down the drain because 'a bunch of players no longer believe in the manager'.
I'm truly amazed that so many people think it's part of the game. It was the same thing in the late 90s when nobody was good enough for the sorry bunch of losers we called our players and that we had to endure for much longer than any of the managers they 'didn't believe in'.

I think Levy has to have a look at himself also, during his tenure the trophies won have been abysmal. We have got back in the top half of the table and challenging for the top four, but thats the minimum i expect as a spurs supporter. Its really time to push on.
I read the other day had Covid not struck we would have had the highest revenues and profits made in our home games above any in the league. Once things settle down i expect Levy to change his own philosophy also not just hire managers and hang them out to dry by not backing them. Before anyone starts talking about some of the players brought in for some of the money, im talking about key transfers that managers have wanted but were consistently let down.

In the two seasons since we have moved in to the stadium we've spent 160m+ Net on transfers, compared to 30m Net for the 4 years previous whilst work was being carried out. (Over a 400% increase?)
I think the evidence shows Levy will spend now we're in - obviously though the pandemic and lack of fans at the stadium is going to effect that quite considerably, just hopefully it's not too long lasting.
